If
any veterans out there got any oldskool tips on how to minimise stretch in dark period, to shorten internodes, or is it possible, thanks, iv just switched to flower today so ill just be in time,,,if its possible,,,,thanks
First thing to remember is plants have genetics that are sort of preset like human beings. For example if your parents are both around 6 ft tall ur gonna be same height. Most seeds/genetics sold say this plant flowers at certain inches or cm whatever they chose to use for guides.
However, using MH for the first 2 weeks of bloom will help reduce that stretching. I also recommend keeping your day and night time temps within 4 degrees during first weeks of bloom until stretch period ends. This greatly reduces stretching!! I dont recommend using bush load but if u do choose to use it you need pnly 1 feeding during week 2 ONe TIME shot!! Thats in absolute desperation otherwise dont use that shit not good for human consumption but it does and will work.
The stretch period is most important part of floeeing process, trying to stop it isnt beneficial to yield or flower development. During stretch is when ur plant set sites and added growth shoots where ur buds will form and flower so trying to stop this isnt a good idea.
But using the mh and temp will control the stretch to an extent. Some strains will flower to a certain height regardless primarily sativa dominant phenos. Also make sure u dont feed those veg nutes or use for tranisitioning into bloom bcuz Nitrogen = plant growth. I flush a couple feedings before i go to bloom to help flower plants quicker and stop them from stretching too much, after that period about week 2 ill add low dose nitrogen to flower solution to keep everything nice and green moving forward and cutting off added nitrogen at week 3 for indicas and week 4 for sativas. These tips will help reduce stretch if space is an issue. BOL and happy harvesting
Oh after week 2 you can lower ur night temps back dow to the 10 degrees or whatever u choose to do. I know some ppl say extra P during first few weeks leads to stretch but it also initiates flowering and sets up bud sites example product such as bud blood or bud ignitor, which i love and use on all my grows. I find that its kind of a no win situation bcuz its beneficial but can also cause some stretching but employing the above techniques will aid in reducing that stretch greatly. Works for me everytime!! Happy harvesting, Cheers
