Trim Fan Leaves while Budding?

I have heard from a good friend who is known for growing some of the dankest shit in the area that you should trim all or most of the fan leaves off the plant once it is budding.

Is this good advice or Would that shock the plant too much?

That's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. Where do you expect to collect sun from if you cut off all your fan leaves?

DON'T DO IT!!! I just got my buddy started, and he wouldn't listen to me, and cut off most of his fan leaves, just like you are describing. Well, come harvest time, when he saw that I yielded twice as much as he did(same strains, same age, same lights, etc...), he kicked himself in the ass.lol Seriously man, it's not worth the risk. If it had been proven effective, everybody would be doing it, and I've yet to see any proof, thus far. I've only seen poor results when overdone, and equal results when they didn't get carried away.

your plant will shed any leaves she dont need during flowering herself, if the leaf is about to die I say take it off but definitly dont take them all off on purpose - many pros will tell you not to but some take half or most off

The fan leaves are the main and most effecient energy producers for your plant, the bigger the leaf is the more effecient it is, more energy=more growth. I dont know what your friend is thinking, cuz common sense would say that cutting off the plants energy supply for growing isnt going to increase growth........

yup yup...fan leaves = emergency nute storage...if you get a PH lockout or quit givin your plants nutes, the plant can still use the energy stored in those fan leaves until they start to yellow and eventually die.
