trimming fan leaves

No you should never take the fan leaves off your plant until they`re dead and crispy.
The reson for this is that they are the way that the plant transforms the nutrients into sugars which is what it needs to survive.
Same thing as you trying to gain weight by duct taping your mouth closed...just won`t work.
Just tuck the leaves under a branch or tie em back, but don`t cut them off.

Yes, you can trim fan leaves.

It should only be done as a necessity, however. If you have some major leaves that are blocking significant light to the lower branches, you could snip it. But be careful and don't remove too much or else you'll stunt the growth while the plant heals itself and makes new leaves.

fan leaves are what collect the light to make sugars to feed the plant. DO NOT CLIP FAN LEAVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fdd is spot on as usual!!!

Put the scissors down...only remove leaves that are no longer supplying energy to the plant....dead or dying (damaged) leaves are the only ones necessary to remove!

there rite you should not, but i was saying if you were going to pull fan leafs, it would be better to trim. rather than pull. only if you were going to.

Wow what a controversial topic, I won't trim them but there are a few leaves on the very bottom that aren't looking too pretty so I'll just trim them, thanks for all the advice.
