trimming leaves away to let more light to lower buds?

Wanted to check in and see if folks trim some leaves away to let light to the lower buds? If so which leaves should I trim?

none the leafs are what create the bud. only trim unless your doin a sog grow or somthin

Just push the larger fans below the bud sites or you can squeeze the fans stem and then bend it down. It won't die, just be bent below the other buds around. I just keep the bud sites as fully lit as possible.

I trim my buds to get light evenly distributed, at least the fan leafs that go WAY out there, and my plants LOVE it!! Also I am doing deep water culture and I scored my roots today with a razor and I'll let you know how that works?

The leafs is where photosynthesis begins...without leafs there would be no buds.......trim all your lower shoots that don't get any light instead of trimming the leafs that are doing their job

in my opinion you should only remove a fan leaf if it is dead or dying. any more than 1/2 dead are good to cut if you want to let some light in.

i used to think removing bigger fan leaves that were "blocking" the sun would help growth, but it did not. my plant stopped growing and the budding was hurt alot. learn from my mistake and dont trim healthy fan leaves

Expose bud sights to light but don't trim fan leaves. So move the fan leaves to underneath the buds.

I have grown who knows how many plants and can tell you by experience that trimming your leafs is a bad idea......those lower budsite that get no light should be trimmed when flowering begins so all the energy is focused on the upper buds......try it....I guarantee you won't be dissapointed

Thanks guys. I wanted to throw the question out there and see what people's thoughts were. I didn't LST this grow of Skunk no1 and it ended up having a fairly thick leaf structure and the main cola kept outpacing the branches later in the grow than I usually see. Production looks good regardless. I've just been tying the the main colas to the side and that has been helping get the light down in a bit more. Lot of bud sites and branches on this plant.

or you can do this and not worry about the lower buds.

I did that as well. But I'm stingy and still want as much light penetration as possible.

Seriously...anther thread about this? I don't even use this forum often, and I still see so many people asking about this. It will only hurt your yield. Those large leaves are hundreds of times more efficient than bud leaves at photosynthesis. This is BASIC botany, absolutely basic jesus...

I'll prove it, here is a shot of buds that developed fully on the very bottom of a bushy, short-as-hell white russian autoflower.

These buds received nearly zero light. They are small because they were the last to start growing, being on the bottom of the stem, but they are fully mature.
