If it's a thicker bushier plant I would. Sativa hybrids that grow taller I usually try to leave a lot of the top leaves on.Week 3 just started. Multiple fan leaves are blocking light from lower bud sites. Should I remove them or keep them?
Thanks!
I do tuck quite a few as well. Actually I do a little more than that. When bending the leaves at bud sites out of the way (of other bud sites I pinched them over. I do it a lot like I super crop all my branches. Then that bud site seems to take off. It just starts to shoot up like a champ, with new leaves too. Then I remove the leaves. I leave a good portion of the remaining stem behind though. The flower site can then draw nutrients from what's left behind in the stem.something i learned recently,...the fan leaves are actually semi transparent, so light does get past them even though it doesnt look like it. i only cut off the damaged ones, and the stems that didnt make it to the top of the canopy. i cant imagine cutting off big nice fan leaves could do anything healthy for your plant. i try to tuck and bend my fan leaves so that the lower bud sites can reach upwards. this is just me though. some people chop the fuck out of their plants and have good results. im waiting for the day where someone come to a conclusion on this idea.. im told,... because i dont have pics of my grow, that i shouldnt give advice. fuck whoever said that

You could take some of those lower fan leaves off and be safe.View attachment 4390195 View attachment 4390196 View attachment 4390197
Thanks guys! This is what I'm dealing with
Dude, why did you delete your other post? It was good stuff. You could take some of those lower fan leaves off and be safe.
Wanted to help with their current situation and I felt like it was rambling on something that couldn't help at the moment.Dude, why did you delete your other post? It was good stuff.
I defoliated the shit out of my last crop because it was a SOG and didn't work out exactly as planned. (Wrong strain for sure.)
Anyhoo... the key is to not do it all at once -- especially during flower.
I know this is my first post and all, but I have done it for over twenty years now. And View attachment 4390044 have always been happy with my results. Just pulled a bunch off of this one the night before this picture was taken and it is doing just fine. Will have to probably do it a few more times to.
Great advice, and welcome.Yeah, bend those branches. And your indoors, so take a bunch of those lower leaves. Also you probably have a bunch of lower branches that you could clone too. But I think it would be wise to open up some air space down below. You can also take some of the bigger top leaves without worrying and reaping the benefits of better light penetration for longer, fatter, denser buds.
Thank you.Great advice, and welcome.
That's exactly what I do I go in and pull all the fan leaves off.3 weeks later you won't even know because they bounce back so fastI trim mine without issue View attachment 4390194 View attachment 4390193
