Moving out of newbie section. Outdoor shed 12' x 5', a/c added August 2018. Timber grow lights, vero 29 at 400 watts, two or three depending.
Started with Kind 750 led (overpriced), bought Platinum LED and returned immediately, then BlackDog 400 (overpriced) finally found RIU and Timber. Vero 29 Cobs at 3500 K, 400 watts.
I am now starting my third year. First year with blurple leds which did ok. Less intensity for lighting made growing a little easier. Second year was a disaster, started with idea of 27 small plants in 3 gallons of FFOF. Watering about 9 gallons of water and then the fans failed to come on, fixed and then realized no fans with lights off was also a big problem as I started to flower
Tossed them outside as I knew hermies were about to arrive. Thought I would get some product:
But then this happened and ash rained down on these flowers for weeks:
And then I got some Malibu potting soil from a hydro store, full of fungus larvae eating my small plant roots and then endless heat problems without air conditioning and trying to grow at night for temp control.
Now as of July 1 turning a new leaf, using a mix of things that I have read on this forum, gc and ic. Started with Gascanastan's beginner mix:
1/3 sphagnum peat moss, 1/3 aeration (mix of large perlite and 3/8's pumice and gathered biochar), 1/3 earthworm castings from local worm lady. To each cubic foot I added 1 cup kelp meal, fish meal, oyster shell powder and azomite/rock dust.
Tried to use some CC ideas with malted barley powder, coconut water, aloe Vera, fulpower and protek. Still struggling with water and teas.
