Trying to help a friend out....

I'm trying to help a friend out that has chronic COPD/Emphysema. Smoking is not an option for him, so were looking into edibles and other suggestions. I've had personal success with infusing coconut oil for edibles, but haven't tried any other methods other than that and smoking flower. I personally hate all the man made scripts that come with the organ destroying side effects. With all my conversations with him lately, he seems to be needing relief with anxiety, lack of sleep and lack of appetite. I've have been very discreet with my own personal use as I don't sell or buy. I am however willing to try and help my friend and he is also willing to accept my help. I know most are not willing to offer medical advice, and I completely understand that. I just want to help my friend find some peace and relief from this horrible life stealing disease. We would appreciate any suggestions. I prefer to do everything as organic as possible and try to shy away from any chemicals. I really appreciate the community's help and understanding with this.

You can easily make suppositories out of that infused coconut oil. I've been doing that for several months, using leaf trim from indica-leaning plants that I grow at home. You just need to order molds for the suppositories off eBay or Amazon.

Another thing I'm trying is transdermal application of coconut oil mixed with DMSO. Without the DMSO, it's good for pain but is not "psychoactive." With DMSO or another "permeability enhancer" you do get a buzz. DMSO is not approved by the FDA for that kind of medical use, so you should research the potential risks before you try it. However there are supposed to be "safer" permeability agents available such as glycerin and lauryl alcohol. I have not tried them yet.

Some dispensaries in Cali are selling transdermal patches.

I hope this helps your friend. Good luck!

Thanks so much for the response. Never thought about the suppositories. What a great idea. I knew nothing about DMSO until your mention. I will have to do a little more research on this, but it does sound interesting. He is down for pretty much whatever at this point. I just hate to see someone suffer. I only hope that he can realize some bit of relief. Thanks again!

No problem. Glad to help.

Advantages of suppositories: 1. Don't have to swallow a pill and risk choking. 2. No problem if patient is constantly vomiting and can't keep medicine in stomach. 3. Hopefully crooks will be less likely to steal them, because suppositories will never be hip, trendy or in demand among the party peoples. 4. No one can accuse you of being self-indulgent because no one chooses a suppository unless there's practically no alternative route to deliver the drug. 5. Obviously, they're out of sight and out of mind, about as "low key" as cannabis use can get.

suppositories. I guess no one if going to pass that one around a circle.

I went to a candy making website and you can get the little trays and the jolly rancher wrappers.
Its fun, you need a candy making thermometer and few items like a funnel with a stopper to fill the trays.

I forgot I used kief to extract into coconut oil. You could use hash though.
