Ubernoob: AeroGarden & Lowryder?

I'm an ubernoob. I know no terminology and know nothing about growing anything (even had a cactus die on me). I know nothing about males/females, ph levels, or temperature and have never even seen a pot plant in real life. I also live in an apartment, so not a lot of space. Just looking for the smallest simplest most-idiotproof way to do this.

All I know about Marijuana is that: 1. It comes from a bag; 2. It's expensive; 3. You feel better when you smoke it.

I bought an AreoGarden Pro 200 and 8 lowryder #2 seeds.

I figure that lowryder is the way to go for me. The site claimed the plants only get to 1 foot tall... so I hope they won't outgrow the AG. Also the plants are self-flowering (18 hrs/day light entire lifecycle). I assume I don't need to worry about males since I think I need them to get seeds for another grow (apparently you can't clone lowryder; which is just as well since I have no idea how to clone).

Anyway, I was planning on putting one seed in each of the seven pods. Set the lighting at 18 hrs/day. Add water and nutrients and hope by some magic weed appears and I'm smoking in 70 days. I'd remove all but one male (if I can learn how to determine gender) to help avoid crowding... using all 7 pods might be cramped.

What more do I need to do? I'm borderline retarded and can't be trusted with complex tasks and am easily confused by what people are talking about in these forums.

lmao...I think I can help. keep this thread open or PM me for more help as I dont multi task very wekk and am in a few forums.... I am currently doing a Blueberry X AK47 lowrider (auto) grow and have read a lot about the aerogarden.
the #1 thing to keep in mind with LR#2 is it smells like mlched grass and baby shyte so get ready for that smell during flowering.
But you will need some nutes (nutrients) something like 2-15-15 or so should do the trick and you probably only need to do that a coule times during the process you might be able to get by without but ur not gonna get a whole lot out of em. Personally I would go with a little more light like 20/4 or 20 on 4 off. The rest Im just gonna post a link ... read through this grow which was aero garden and then pm or ask me questions too much detail on breeding etc.... a damn, I'll have to post it later probs with the search eng over there

Ditch all the males dude, just grow a another strain in 1 pot and pich the top or keep it as a mother plant. Thats a plant in another room you clone and then put in your garden. I would go with a trusted promix with a wick system. better harvest and easier and cheeper

Okay. The seeds FINALLY showed up from Goldenseed.co.uk.
Seeds received:
10 x LowRyder #2
10 x White Widow
5 x FrostWreck (Jack Frost/Trainwreck he threw in for free, woot!).

Took half the lowryder seeds (5) and threw them in the Aerogarden. Put in two small "herb nutrient" tablets. Set light for 24hrs (occasionally turning it off for a hour of cooldown).

Put seeds in on 12/16/2008.

Started building a "growbox" around the aerogarden so I can have some odor control later on. I tried to add a Massey 4" high velocity fan in as an intake... think that may be a little too much. Also covered inside walls with Xmas spiderman wrapping paper over sheets of aluminum foil (heard that could be a cheap alt for mylar).

Today is 12/22/2008. Since I'm an ubernoob I have no idea how they are doing. But they all look good to me.

DAY 6:

good start.... which light did u go with? they are stretching a lil (getting tall) before they need to. Is that as far as the light top goes down keeping the light as close as possible without burning the back of your hand is a good rule of thumb... normally 2" with CFL would like some close ups too.... I started a few just a couple days b4 u and had a few "hatch" just after yours.

BTW ur not gonna try the WW or frost wreck in the aero are u?

i would take out thoose clear covers for the empty holes and cover them with black tape you do not any light geting where the roots are. otherwise great start.

I have no idea what type of light it is. I'm an ubernoob. It's the AG growlight that came with the system. That IS as far as the light goes down. The instructions only mentioned keeping the light at least light 2 inches off plant. The Hood does raise (the hood raises higher than the "growbox" would allow, up to like 21" I think).

But with the size constraints of the growbox, that means I have keep the plants down to 14". The seed description said Lowryder #2 has a height of 12", but every picture I've seen looks much larger. I plan on pruning the bottom third of the plant to slow height if it looks like there might be height issues... but not sure at what height the plant should be to try that tho.

I am NOT going to use the WW or Frostwreck in the AG. I was thinking about trying two experimental grows with the AG and Lowryder to get my feet wet, then maybe upgrading to a DR80 and trying the WW & Wreck. Or, depending on how the LW does, I may stick with the Lowryder cause I kinda like the idea of autoflowering strains... I assume I could keep mature plants AND a (removable hood) Aerogarden with next batch of seedlings, all in the same DR80. But since I such a newbie, I have no idea if that would work or not. I just assumed since I never have to alter light schedule I could dump them all in the same tent. I just plan on making mistakes and learning by doing/practicing.

I am growing in an aerogarden also, I bought some larger day light cfl lights at target along with some desk lamps and put them next to the aero garden for more light. I am at about the same point as you and have not had great results but am using bag seed since it's my trial run. Will be planting lr2 and lowlife ak47 when they arrive. I got the idea from reading other journals in the grow room.

have to check with a few friends about "topping" LRs cause ur height is gonna get above 14" most likley. Topping is just basically breaking the top growth off just below the node right before top growth. I dont know if it will lessen yeild or affect auto flower in any way so I wouldnt do it til get a response here 1st. Some might also suggest LST dont know how it would be done in the Aero exactly.

Patsfan- might wanna switch to 12/12 at about 6 1/2" of growth if u plan on keepin em in the aero...lol they will shoot above 21" otherwise

DAY 8 (Xmas Eve):

I put black tape over holes as requested. Added a digital therm. as an impulse purchase when I was at Walmart buying activated carbon for the DIY carbon filter I saw on the forums.

Whats an aerogarden ? can you really grow weed in there ?

AeroGarden is probably not the best. I told you that I know nothing. Came to this forum right after I bought it (should have been the other way around).

I was smoking with a friend and I said "I think should grow." He mentioned all of the videos on YouTube of:
People growing weed in an AeroGarden.
We watched a couple, then I ordered one online.

In my defense, I was at the time. But, my heart was in the right place.

Dude, he's pullin your leg. He's got some of the best AG grows i've seen on this forum. One of the big reasons i bought mine.
