UG! Soil or Hydro???

Well, now my husband (I love this man but he's makin me crazy!) has decided he wants to be involved in the growing! He hasn't done a lick of reading just knows what I have talked about. Now he is talking about wanting to go Hydro next grow instead of just upgrading lights. I know there are a lot of hydro growers here as well as dirt so I am hoping for comparisons from those of U that have grown BOTH ways...
