Ugh- trashing first grow and attempting again, need suggestions

I just wasted 5 white widows due to either a shitty light or poor choice in soil, either way i wasted an entire grow and attempted again. So what its been made obvious to me is I need 3 things.

CFL lights for the first 2 weeks
a propagator
and a good starter soil (when do i switch soils and to what?)

It would be amazing if you could provide a direct link to an excellent product to buy, i can afford to not be cheap, but cant afford to go baller status, if that makes sense lol.

Best method to germinate is put it in a wet paper towel between 2 plates and just put it on your cable box or heat mat at 85 if you got it.

For soil look up Subcools Super Soil. 100% satisfaction guaranteed.

The CFLs will be fine the first 2 weeks. But trying to get some T5s or MH.

Germing isnt a problem i use the pt method and it works almost 100% every time for me. And can you link me the exact kind of lights you're talking about?

Im not sure what you mean by propagator. As far as lights go there is tons of options out there it really depends on your growing situation. How many plants you plan on growing and your ultimate goal once you can finaly afford the thousands of dollars in equipment you eventually end up with sticking with this hobby.

I am going to do the plants in 5-8 plants per group. So CFL for that. And yeah after I sell everything off all of the profit is going into building bigger and better things. Hilarious part though, I know a guy who sells drilling equipment and on his property he has like 30 train carts that just get left there for various reasons during shipments, and he said i can have how ever many I want, So i think if i get good at this im going to take like 4 and bury them underground and do that. But anyways, for now im doing 4x4x7 grow tents, so what and how many cfl for 5-8 plants in 1 tent

Whats your budged like and do you have a HID light yet? Your better off putting money into a HID that can take HPS and HM bulbs at this point if you havent covered that. Also look into cooling and a filter. Trying to flower 5-8 plants under cfl lights when you have a wonderfully sized tent is silly. It is also going to cause you a lot of heartach and stress compared to what a decent 600w HID light would do for you.

HID? whats that? I have a 600w HPS and nothing else, i was told to start them under cfls for 2 weeks then move them under the 600w

But I don't have the cfls for them so I need to know examples of what to buy, I have an inline fan incoming which I didnt have for the grow I just attempted.

Are you vegging and flowering in the same area? The 600 will do amazing in that area. Does your 600 take HM conversion bulbs? When i first began growing i vegged under my 600w light and kept the bulb 3-5 feet above them, once they get a little growth you can bring it down. If you plan on having a veg area in the future invest in a decent T5. I'm currently running a 4" 4 bulb T5 with around 20 plants and getting really good results.

Your 600w ballast with a MH bulb is going to give you faster growth if your in a hurry though.

Here is a pic of my clones currently around 21ish days of veg under a T5. So you have something to see results of what a good T5 will do. T5s don't have the penetration of HID lights but they also run cool and cover a lot more area.
HID = high intensity discharge
MH = metal halide - check your ballast and see if you can run a conversion bulb in it.

You can start under cfl and save electric but for me IMO its effort and im lazy. I would just run the 600w at a great height so you don't fry them.

My thoughts exactly, being lazy sucks. MH make plants grow so damn good compared to T5's. I would run one but i'm running 1200w in my flowering room and really don't want my electrical bill any higher than it already is.

aye men bruvva. I just went for a duel spec bulb. Saves on cost and seen better results then MH then swapping to HPS in both stages of growth Veg & Flower. I mean i only have a 400w for now because im conscious of the energy bill but looking at upgrading soon to a 600w when finish my current harvest and sell a couple of o's :p

I dont give a fuck about my electric bill. Ok so I have an hps bulb is that bad or something? I remember it was suppose to be the best, I just ordered a propagator for starting then im going to transpant into the growtent. So whats the size of your clones, and im assuming once you trim a plant down for clones you kill the mother plant? Also can you link exactly what lights you're using for the clones. The plants im growing got kind of jacked up, the literally look 2 days old and they are 1 month old, so im going to try and clone them see if that does like a reset or something idno. It waas just 50 dollars in seeds and I would HATE to trash that

No i take clones when my plants go into flowering. They sit in my cloning dome for around 10 days than go into my veg tent. The mothers are put into flowering i only pull clones off the lower branches. HPS is the best for flowering it puts out light in more of the red spectrum. MH is best for vegitative growth as it puts out light more in the blue spectrum.

Do not clone your plants right now you will more than likley kill them. upload some pictures of your current plants. My best guess is the reason you are not seing good growth is because of the lights you have been using.
