I was wondering if Health Canada or the government ever allowed patients under the MMAR to grow strains other than the crappy seeds from them. Does anyone know where to find information on this?
Under MMAR rules, can patients grow only seeds from Health Canada or other strains?

Thanks for the reply. I was searching and trying to find proof that patients could grow strains other than the one sold by Health Canada. Do you have any reference for growing strains under the MMAR. I know that patients were allowed to transfer genetics to LPs prior to March 31, 2014.

MJ...I don't think you will find what you are looking for (proof). HC is very good at getting rid of the "history".
This is what I can tell you..In the early days of the MMAR, it was either grow your own or buy from HC (PPS). The mention of buying seeds from HC was introduced sometime later. I remember having a good laugh the first time I saw it. HC tried to imply by their wording that you had to get the seeds from them, but you didn't.
The way it was supposed to be Mary, was as Leaf has said.
At one point you could give your shit to an LP to grow for you..IF they'd take it that is.
I Can't see hundreds of patients asked their LP to grow hundreds of different strains?
The deal was one of those fucked up things HC added to try and blindly steer people away from the MMAR.
It was utter Bullshit and they knew it would never fly.
So to answer your question...the Government never had seeds for sale in the first place, each MMAR patients could buy seeds from where ever they liked.
Seeds are a legal grey area in Cannada after all.

Thank you all for your info. Health Canada aka PPS did sell seeds, 20 per pack for $ 20. Only one strain. Not feminized. Same strain PPS was selling. Low THC, no CBD and a tall and lanky plant. My questions is were patients allowed to grow other strains? Is there any documentation of that?

I do not recall ever reading HC address seeds before they started to push PPS seeds.
I can't remember when HC started to offer these seeds from PPS, but it was late in the mmar game.

Just a lengthy debate I was having with someone. They said that patients were only allowed to grow the PPS plant and I disagreed with them.

I can see why the other person thought that way though....near the end HC made it appear that you had to get the seeds from them.
