UpCycled Veg Light, Some time killed....

Hello secret interweb Friends,

Today I had a root around my shed for something to do. I found an anodized heatsink that used to be a Chinese aquarium light. I have problems with impulse control and tend to spend before I research things more (I am cyclothymic). Hence I end up with a shed full of stuff that I forget about until I go in there looking for something else and stumble across all sorts.

Having had a conversation with @Growmau5 recently about XML2 and veg lights I decided to have a play at making a little veg light. I already have a CXA2530 based veg light for a 8 sq ft veg tent. This will go in a smaller area.

Parts used:
Aforementioned heatsink 85cm x 10cm
10 x Cree XM-L2 T6-4C 10W 1100LM 4200-4500K Neutral White LED Emitter on 20mm Star Base
5 x Cree XM-L2 U2 10W 6000-6500K 1000LM LED Emitter on 20mm Base
10 x Chinese lens and holders that came with original fitting.
5 x Cheap Torch (flashlight) reflectors from Fasttech
1 x Driver that I pulled from a Plant Photonics 140w panel internal dimming up to 1.5a

A cuppa tea, soothing music, Scented oil for my beard and I was all set. No real planning involved. I literally just slapped it together for the sake of killing some time.o_O

I left my Kil a watt thing at a mate's house. When I go over to weigh his first grow I will get it and give you some numbers.

Cheers,
Will

cyclothymic disorder......................that's a new one for me, thanks for the "word of the day"

like the build , still consider the xml2 a workhorse imo.......

be safe grower
Yeah I thought I was just born a moody prick until I was diagnosed with it. I take anti seizure medicine that keeps it in check.
I still have impulse control issues though.

Damn Will, the addiction has really set in with you. You wake up in the morning and think " what light should I build today" I love it man. I can see your skill level increasing with each project you do. Cheers to ya man. And keep that cot warm for me, cuz I'm crashing at your place when I get to that part of the world.

Oh no my friend, no cot for you. I will give my butler kingston some time off and you can use his quarters. He is uncomfortable leaving me for any length of time but he needs to learn to spread his wings.

A ganja grower with a butler named kingston :eyesmoke:

"Kingston old boy, be a chap and polish the lenses before the Cumberdales arrive, you know how Mrs. Thayer loathes a shabby luminaire."

"Rude boy! I&I tro a shine on d sharpshoota till she beam like a lazer, n gleam like a razor, bad man killa."

.....I'd watch the first season.

I hung the new fitting over some plants today. Chilli, a cucumber and some aloe vera. This will be my burn in test in an area of my home I can check without raising suspicion with the family. After a day of running the heatsink is only just warm to the touch which gives me the smiley face.

can't like this post, sorry to hear about your issues Will......................have you tried high cbd strains to wean off of pharma or is it ineffective for you?
Thanks for your kind thoughts. It is no big deal. Once I was diagnosed it explained a lot about the decisions I made and behaviors I displayed in my life.
It is all good now though I take Lamictal (lamotrigine) which is an antiepileptic drug. It keeps me level mostly. Every once and awhile I get what is called hypomania.
That means I run around like a dog with two dicks, spend money on stupid stuff I don't need, grow cannabis without my family knowing etc.. Prescription medicine is free or cost at most £8.40 ($11.03) over here. I do not suffer any hallucinations or think I am Jesus. It is just a mood disorder, ups and downs. As I get older I have come to realise that everybody has something wrong with them even if they do not know it.:p Cannabis is actually not well suited to any level of bipolar disorder. Heavy use can actually be a detriment. As with anything moderation is key.o_O

Everyday is a gift, my children are healthy, my bills get paid, my roof is not leaking. The biggest drama I had today was on my way to work my bicycle seat had a bolt snap and as I sat down mid peddle my trusty steed violated me in a most inappropriate way.

Cheers,
Will
