Hello everyone again.

After a lot of research and help from the community and research done on my own I have finally figured out
what I needed for a successful grow.
I ordered some stuff, but ended up canceling after speaking to several members.
I was going to go with a LED DWC grow but I cancelled all that due to some research and Watts per sq foot.

I can now say I have ordered the needed parts that will for sure help myself have successful grows for a long time until I need a Larger space.

I have decided to do a Sea of Green (SoG) grow with Aeroponics instead of Deep Water Culture (DWC).

I dimmed all the crud I was going to buy and waste thousands.
I was going to go LED but my place is on the cooler side and the HPS will keep it much warmer without additional heat.
Overall I believe this will be much better for my SoG grow and has saved me money.
If there is anything that is missing let me know.

I will continue to update with Photos of setup and others :)
My seeds have already arrived but I doubt anyone wants to see that.
 
Watts are a measure of power consumption, nothing to do with light, so watts/sq ft says nothing about the amount or quality of light. You can't compare led and hid lighting unless to say one uses more or less power. You would have to look at things like lumens, lux, par spectrum, etc.

Again I did my research. I was not asking about that. I have compared LED models and HPS models.
With this setup ill be getting 40watts per sq foot. Im well aware of the lumens and PAR spectrum's.
Again I was not asking for any of that. Was just updating the community and the people who are following my grow.

I have well enough light and watts as well as spectrum for this grow.

This made it sound like you used 'watts/sq ft' to make a decision on what kind of lights to use, which is crazy.

You might make this into a grow journal if you're not looking for any input and just documenting your grow.

I will be making a grow journal as well once everything arrives and I am fully ready to start.

Ya I was not basing my grow just off of watts :) Lumens and spectrums and PAR for sure. I did a ton of research.
 
smart move not buying an led..... that phresh filter was expensive...... think its gonna get too hot for ya tho....... I don't believe a 6 in duct booster is gonna keep that light cool enough... thousands are super hot

Yeah no LED. My place is generally very cold! I am well aware 1k lights are hot and yes the filter was expensive but to weed out the smell it is needed.
I will have fans for air circulation.

I am in a 5 x 5 any suggestions on cooling? After all my research it just seems that LED may be similar to HPS but the price is no where near worth it.

Couple hundred for a good HPS several thousand for a LED with similar results... really dont understand it.

I will be running SoG via Aero under this 1k light.

Any suggestions appreciated and taken into concideration

I bought a few of the dura filters the other day.... I think theyre about half the price but ive never used the phresh..... and whats a hundred bucks anyhow........

if you want to control the temp youre gonna have to move that air from the light out of the room...... thru a window or thru the ceiling.... something.......... window ac.....

temp is so much more important than new growers realize........ so many times new growers think because plants grow outside and its a hundred .......not how it works tho.......... I would go out on a limb and say that if you've seen led's that compete w a thousand watt hortilux the guys w the thousands were doing everything else wrong and the led guy was pro.....lol....... thousand watt hortilux is king of the jungle

I will be fully ventilating my grow room out of a window for fresh air :) As this will cool the grow room down enough as it will get really hot in there.
Second from what I gathered I do believe that the HPS will 100% outperform the LED. I seen so many videos saying LED is the best but comparing a pro
1000w hortilux HPS grow with a similar LED grow the HPS kills in yield and dense buds. Over a gram per watt in the correct space per sq foot in a Hydro grow.
I was going to get a LED but after doing all the spectrum, PAR, Lumens research it seems that my HPS will bring in a large yield with great buds over the thousands of dollars to spend in LED to get similar results. Sure im saving some hydro but at 8 cents im really not saving much on hydro in comparison to price and output of the bud.
I doubt ill ever switch to LED unless they really up there game and prices go way down.

I grow organic and think of myself as pro....... I pull a pound per light w 6oo's....some of the hydro guys really kick my ass

I have a feeling youre gonna do well ..... youre smart enough to sort thru the bs....

Yes not some dumb kid just looking for some bud. I am committed to a good setup and glad you see this.
My guess is my yield will be quite good with SoG.
Do you run Scrog or SoG?
There is so much misinformation I found online its crazy but gotta sort through all of it to get to the truth.
 
Have you tried both SoG and Scrog and if so what were the comparisons as from what I understand SoG is the way to go if you can.
 
I kinda do both...... I grow in square pots and pack em in .... start w maybe ten in clones that have been topped ...... stick em w bamboo and run trellis netting a foot or so off em....I wrap a few and let the rest go..........

Mainly more of a SCROG grow from what i can tell as TOPPING and SoG dont go together from my understanding SoG is to have quicker harvests with 1 main cola and topping would increase the flower time.
I am not 100% sure on that if topping would be beneficial to the SoG or only good for SCROG.

topping wont increase flowering time....... too much nitrogen will

I top mine because of a plant to pot ratio that I kinda feel like I need growing organic.... whats important is that the canopy is full regardless of how you grow

SO topping a SoG would be a good idea? Increase yield without much extra flower time?

Yes Im well aware of this.
My main goal is to get the best yeild with a SoG and get the correct information.
If you have some time id love to pick your brain on SoG?

SoG from seed doable as I assume clone from mother is best.
Also how long to keep Veg and how long to flower? Simple questions but so much information its hard to be accurate.
Appriciated.
 
it all depends on how you grow but I think the asshole that makes the rules would tell you its not sog if you top it........ the point is to have a full canopy.... not waste a drop....

veg time from seed should be 4 weeks or so..... when the plant matures ...... branches start alternating it leaves that seedling stage...... you can flip em earlier but they still grow to maturity before they flower.....

from clone veg time is determined by plant count...... assuming theyre rooted good.....

flower you go til theyre done...... ive never seen anything that really finished before eight weeks......

honestly....... the best advice I could give you knowing you've put real money into this and knowing youre serious is to forget about hydro for now....... put em in the dirt and grow em til theyre busting out of that tent ....... then learn how to clone.......... pot of good soil is like a safety net...... fuck up one time w hydro and youre gonna be out the game
 
something else.......and im not captain of the hydro team but growing aero w different strains might bite ya in the ass...... I know for sure I couldn't feed this afghani im growing the same as the others.... ive tried...lol.....
