upgrade from 600w to 1000w?

Hi all. I have a 600w currently in a 4X4 space. I average about 8oz per harvest. I'm limited on vertical space, but usually isn't a problem with the 600w if i don't Veg too long.

My questions are:
1. How much would my yield expect to increase from my current 8oz average with the 600w?
2. Is there going to be a large heat increase from the 600w to the 1000w?
3. Which wattage is ideal for a 4X4 space, 600w, or 1000w?
4. Am i going to need more vertical space then i currently have if i upgrade?

thanks guys, just looking for some experienced opinions.

400 watt = 3x3, 600 =4x4, 1000 = 5x5 feet.
you should be able to pull more from the 600. i just did 7 ounces under a 430 watt
if you ran out of hight with a 600 then you will definately run out with a 1000

I just pulled 6.5 oz off three plants veg for four weeks grown under a 400 mh for veg and 400 watt hps. I am with you I would want to pull more than eight per harvest if I wasn't running a perpetual harvest.

I went from a 400w hps to a 1000 awhile back and it was like night and day. You should be able to pull an lb. from a 1000 watter no prob. That's less than 1/2 a gram per watt. I had serious problems with digital lamps. I ordered a 1000 watt digital from ebayer HTG and had to ship it back for a refund after a wild goose chase over some fuses (kept blowing) FWIW, HTG was very cool about refund, as I had no paper work or receipt.

my advice would be to get what you have working better before you spend more money.
the 600 is it a hps or mh?

I like to use mylar and keep my grows a lil tighter,
600 watts divided by 16 square feet is only 37.5 watts p.s.f.

Ok to answer some questions. I use a conversion MH for Veg, and a HPS for Flower. I tend to stick with 9 plants as they fit nicely in there, but i have experimented with 16 and even 25, i like 9 the best. And im not being greedy am I? I want to max my potential, im spending money on electricity, nutrients, and everything else that goes along with, i want to make it worth my while and get the most i can. And ive heard that i could be pulling much more. So any more tips on my question appreciated, cheers

I use a 1000 HPS in my 4x4x7 ft grow tent and is cooled by a 630 cfm. This grow I know what to expect and am using a reflector heat shield so my temps will go down 20f- 30f. Im gonna put my plants into flower in the next few days ad Im growing 8 plants and looking for ways to increase my yield with the amount of light and space that I have. One guy growing the same strain as me is expecting a qp per plant grown under 800 watts hps. I want a qp per plant!!

Be in touch, im curious to see how it goes, that seems like an awful lot for a 4X4 space. But thats why im curious about going 1000w, or 12000 (for 2 600w) and increasing yields. Thats a lot of fan for that space isnt it?

I bought it because it was top of the line made in sweeden and it was a good price $230 nd its relitively quiet compared to its size. A few more dollars more and I got hooked up with a fan that can probly cool 2 1000 watts noprob.
