Upgrading setup

My setup currently is 8x8 tent in garage, running 3 1000 hps AC unit 14,000 BTU, few fans and 1090 cfm fan thru lights. Started from seed my first grow using Seedsman, I grew in recipe 420 soil, using Fox farm nutes and calmag.
I yielded 3.3 lbs all nugs no shake included, i was slighty disappointed but overall happy with potent level and the fact i grew my first set of plants. Preparing for my second go around and really want to get into the hydro systems and really want to 8-10 lbs on the next one.
I live in Northern Cali so its legal, Wt lamps should i upgrade to brand, wattage and wt hydro systems should I use. I hear DWC is the best way to go for yield, i am a stay at home Grad/Dad so i can monitor plants daily for DWC.
