upside down plants

one of my friends said that growing your plants upside down was a good idea...turns out its not...i put one of my plants upside down and stuck a grow lite under it in a lamp. when the dark period came it did a u-turn and started growing straight up...i quickly put it back with the rest of my plants and it started growing right again within a few hours so all is well...point is, if your friends tell you to grow your plants upside down don't do it...lol...has anybody else every heard/done this before...is there a way to make it work?

I think it would work. Plants grow towards light, no matter where it is. I bent one of my plants down and tied it there. Couple days later the tips did a u turn towards the plant (thought it wasnt upside down)

don't roots respond to gravity? and therefore they would be popping out of the soil with the leaves and stems? just doesn't seem ideal

yes plants grow towords light but in the night time they seem to grow in the up direction other than continue down towards the light{which isnt on}

I Think it only works with vine plant. ie. Tomatos ( I think that's how IRS spelled ) but i dunno try it out longer see what happends

the plants that you may have thought were grown upside down are actually grown in a cylcinderical device that turns constantly to stop that haappenin

I have though of the possibility of growing upside down, and i think i have devised a way.

• plant the seed/clone in a 5 gallon bucket 4" from the rim of the container.
• allow the plant to grow to about 8" tall and bend the stock over the rim of the container use a 1-2 ounce fishing wieght to hold the plant down
• place the bucket on a crate, shelf, table anything to get the bottom of the bucket 18-36" of the floor.
• your light should not be directly under the plant as it might burn the plant instead place your light a 18'' or so to the side and below.
• As the plant grows you will have to move the plant up instead of moving the light.
• during the vegitative stage use 24 hour light that way the plant will grow downward and not up during the dark periods
• during the flowering stage the plant will want to grow upwards during dark periods but the light periods will attract it down towards the light
• however plants grow faster in the dark so during flowering the plant will ultimately grow up
• as far as the roots they will still grow with gravity

I personally believe this process could work and would produce better buds with a higher thc content due to gravity pulling it down

Correct me if I'm wrong but cannabis plants not only grow towards the light they use gravity to know which way is up so that could be why when you had the light on everything seemed fine but then when the lights are off the plant wants to grow upwards.

okay during the summer while i was growing my beauty purple kush plant i seen this tomato plant growing out of this hanging upside down pot it was pretty random
it was pretty big to and seemed like it made it easier to water

When i was in 5th grade i did this experiment. I hung them upside down made sure the dirt stayed in and shit with plastic wrap. They grow down a little then straight toward the light. It will work with any plant
