when i bought all my cfl's i couldnt find where it said if it was 2700k or 6500k. I recently found out that they are all 2700k. I have 5 - 23w that are 2700k, will they still work for veg? How much of a difference will it be from using 6500k?

they will definitely still work the more light the better, but i would definitely suggest daylight 6500k bulbs more for veg because the plant uses more of that spectrum during that time. i have a 12 bulb setup right now w/ 6 of each bulb that i plan to use the entire time.

for my first grow, i didn't know about 2700 vs 6500k. so for two weeks, i had four plants under all red cfls... they didn't grow much, but they did grow.

you need 6500k during veg. you can mix some reds in, if you want. it's actually probably better that way because it simulates nature more.

i started my first cfl grow with 42 watt 2700k cfls and it grew really slow and ended burning the tips of the leaves...so i switched to all 6500k bulbs and no bullshit with in a week it had grown twice as big as it took to grow in a month with the 2700ks...i tried mixing the 2700ks and the 6500ks together and all it did was made the leaves twist towards the 6500ks...i would deff keep them all 6500k until you get ready to flower and then gradually add the 2700ks...

i had 4 high kelvin bulbs during veg and the plants were happy and growing fast. I wanted them to be happier and so i added two 2700k bulbs for more spectrum. The growth slowed down SO much and the leaves lost their deep green color after a few days. So i removed the 2700 bulbs and the plants got dark green again and took off.

that makes sence, mine arent growing very fast at all with the 2700k's on it. Im gonna go back to the store and try to find some 6500k lights. I got the 2700 because, well first off i didnt know they were 2700 and 2nd it was like 7.99 for a 4 pack at menards.

do you think a 5000k blue daylight stimulation bulb will be good for veg? it mimmicks the natural daylight so they should work? any comments plz?

also i think u should go ahead with what ur doing cuz ts ur first grow and u never kno whats gonna happen =)

I grew 2 killer Twilight plants (from fem seeds) using only one 125 watt 2700k watt bulb and produced loads of quality buds.. the plants grew big enough in 3 gallon planters SOG that I couldn't hardly contain them in the pots,, of course after the first month they went 12/12 for the next two and were fantastic.. all with the same bulb with lined mylared cardboard computer box.. had just a cheap air cleaner to slightly blow on them and to control the smell.. gave them a bit of bloom nutes now and then that's it

I have one auto flower in there now with the 125watt 2700k and it's doing fine,, 3 weeks and it's already starting to bud and have not shut off light at all

btw.. they make now a 250 watt 2700k cfl I'm going to get for two auto flowers plants.. if you don't want the expense of buying two bulbs then you will still get some nice quantity and definately quality with just the 2700k

I'm sure though if you go with the 5000k during the veg you will get a bigger plant and then swicth over to 2700k for bloom.. I just never did and I was still VERY satisfied
