i was told buy another grower today to use this rather toxic product as a soil drench in conjunction with spinosad as a spray for a really nasty thrips infestation. i just flipped my plants one week ago and the instructions say i am not supposed to use this for flowering plants as it can get into the nectar and it should not be used for fruit ..so my question is this: can i use it as a soil drench safely as i am sure i have a month and a few weeks away from harvest? of course at one week there're no buds yet. i think i was given bad info and would have toxic buds.

bayer-it is a systemic and good for 28 days. spinosad is the bomb diggity.

use the bayer in veg only is what i would do, spinosad should get rid of them plenty well for flower. You can usually see them perk right up and look great afterwards too. thrips have a way of taking them down a notch and it goes back up that notch rather quickly.

pretty sure you have merit, the professional name for whats in the bayer. it is also amazing, but like i said systemic, so dont use it within 28 days of harvest.

I would not use it in flower at all though

well..i am glad i asked..i was in a local shop which i will not name and they just sat there listening and tried to sell me product after product but when a friend of theirs gave me the bayer info they said nothing. thanks for the responses.
i am learning a lot the hard way on my first indoor adventure.
i still want to do a soil drench and i tried a product with hydrogen peroxide using 120ml. for 50 gal.
the massive amount or larvae were doing the backstroke and i swear i heard giggling.
any ideas for soil drench?
spinosad? how much per gallon?
my plan so far is to spray foliar every three days and on top of the soil with a good spray..is that enough if i do it 3 times?
thanks much!

you can also try lots of sticky traps . a 1-2 inch layer of sand or perlite on the top of each pot . it looks like shards of glass to a gnat preventing them from getting into the dirt, ive also done a layer of perlite on a saucer tray and placed my pots on them to stop the gnats from entering the bottom . I did peroxide treatments also . 3% diluted with 4 parts water should kill larve . Me though I was in straight coco. its really held the moisture so made my battle hard although ive fought them off , I ended up scraping a lot of work nd new strains and switched back to hydroponics . my bayer tree and scrub in on the way as ive read a lot about this . hella easier for me to dunk pots of hydrtons next time if this happens . good luck
