Also, you don't want to be adjusting the ph when using organics anyway, ph up and down have the potential to harm the beneficial bacteria.

For soils, I would recommend something that is humus based rather than peat based. If you use peat based mixes like sunshine mix or promix, you will need to use more dolomite lime to keep the soil from becoming acidic. I find with peat mixes, by the time late flowering comes around the ph has dropped considerably, and the peat has also packed down into a solid block that doesn't absorb water well, and it just runs down the sides of the pots and out the bottom.

And finally, if you use a compost tea to inoculate your soil with beneficial bacteria, these bacteria will actually help balance the ph of your soil, creating an environment that is supportive for the bacteria and conducive to decomposition of the organic material within the soil to release it's nutrients.
