Two things were obvious in using trichs to judge exactly the second i need to harvest and perfect the high i required from my bud -
1- Pretty healthy green plants, plants that are struggling or lost a lot of leaves and not looking so photogenic arent going to mature at the same rate and not give a clear picture if even amber much before you loose patience or its health declines so much you have to cut your looses.
Taking a loupe up close to bud and following some mundane thread telling you that you want this or that is easy but producing a green healthy plant that cycles through her flowering changes pretty quick is gona take, for some, many grows before that loupe is going to show you the changes you hoped you would initially see.
This is also something to aim for all round and when your loupe starts to speak to you then your in that zone.
2- Im not sure how others are doing this but i learnt a long time ago that trichs turn quick. You need to watch for when they start to change. As soon as you notice more and more you can start estimating percentages and speed of change. First you just notice the odd one, then a few more, then groups of them in places especially older material.
So you need a plant thats healthy to give you these quick changes and you need to spend a couple weeks watching that change.
Just for reference since too many write about trichs and it kills the old ways you dont need to check trichs whatsoever, either use the buds visual apperance or smoke a few harvests and gain a seventh sense.
The problem with less than healthy plants is they are problematic to mature and dry/cure. So little appreciation goes into the fact you need to be at least half good to crack this stuff
