From what i understand UVC will kill the pathogens but also the roots if in direct line of sight so best to keep it in the epicenter. Also, i think it can cause certain metals to drop out of the solution. I have RO water but in the past used a UVC in my res with plain water before adding nutes to kill any nasties before they enter the system.

I just picked up some aquarium 5w sterilizers hopefully they prevent root rot. Along with pool shock. Hope anyone could chime in on any benefits fighting pythium,

if you need more than chlorine, you probably have an underlying issue of your rot

Some guy in Quebec told me h2o2 is a waste because it bubbles out so darn fast.
I thoroughly took apart the entire room bleached and painted and I must say had some super healthy teens and root rot brown stuff is on its way in attacking healthy white roots. Only thing I could think is a UV sterilizer.. but as I research more ppl are saying that UV can disrupt the nutrients in the water. And this morning the guy at pentair aquatics says the nutrients will hender the uv from doing its job cmon this stuff has turned me into a border line maniac...got 4 Grey hairs and shit Really working to be successful with RDWC.

I use uv lights in my ro tanks just for pythium. There's no protection in ro water against waterborne molds,gotta make your own! In dwc I'd sanitize Everything take it apart & pool shock soak for a couple days. If not it'll keep coming back like herpes.you're gonna have to figure out a pool shock solution that works to run with. Pythium oligandrum kills all other of the 163 varieties of pythium then dies. It was introduced as a organic fungicide in the late 80s in America by a couple Czech scientists. The fda banned it shortly after & re classified pythium as a waterborne molds,no longer a fungus.its in Every commercial ag seed in America but companies like bayer make products to maintain it but not kill it. The toenail fungus is pythium,just saying.It keeps farmers yields down & keeps them dependent on synthetic fungicides,keeps your body loaded with fungus too because you eat it daily! I found that cleaning Everything like a usda food processing facility, regularly for a few months is the only way to kill it off. Pool shock
