Veggies in same hydro system as cannabis?

I recently attained a ton of heirloom seeds and was wondering if it was a good idea to grow them in the same hydro systems as the cannabis plants are. I have one 15 site DWC veg system and four 5 site NFT 8 inch tubes and tons of HID lights "Electricity for me isn't a problem".

I'm thinking this may be insurance against the probability of the pending economic crap that may occur this coming winter. I can post pics but only if needed.

Veggies and fruit considered are:
Onion
Leek
Jalapeno
Tomato
Lettuce
Mustard Greens
Sunflower "Protein"
Bell Peppers
......more but undecided

Another question I have is are there any special ways of pollinating any of the above plants? I hear that some plants cannot use it's own pollen for making seeds.

Any thing that is a root crop like onions , turnips and such can't be grown in a hydro system due to they need to try out some but also because they expand to. Any thing that grows above ground like herbs , lettuce , peppers and such is fine. Heck even water melons can be grown in a hydro system to.

I agree^ onions prob wont do so well but you could always rock a small planter bed next to everything under the photoprint. I have grown tons of veggies from seed side by side and have enjoyed it! post some pics when you are up and running!...some herbs even help detour pests

Exactly. If he really wanted to he could set up a hydro system but have a water pump just for bringing water to your soil plants of course the water pump will need to be on a timer but also if you want to let the water that you used to drain back into the hydro system you need a filter system to make sure no soil or any other kind of debris goes into the system. You could get away with using a low GPH water pump and drip feed system for it.

I also grow veggies in the grow room during the winter. You will have to pollinate most, but it's very easy. Peppers are my favorite to grow indoors (jalapeno, habanero, banana, cubanelle, thai, and hopefully bhut jolokia if I can get a hold of some seeds) Just take a Q-tip, and touch each flower you want to pollinate. Just remember that if you are saving seeds, use a new Q-tip for each type, otherwise you will cross pollinate and not end up with what you expect from the seeds. (not always a bad thing though. Sometimes I cross pollinate on purpose just to see what I get from the seeds on the next go-round)

very interesting thanks for the info.
has anyone rafted leaf lettuce in a rubbermaid bin? im curious about that...
as for sharing a reservoir;
the ppms and ph levels would have to match though wouldn't they?
correct me if im wrong but i think tomatoes and strawberries thrive with high ppm levels
while lettuce requires a cool environment with low ppm levels.
I'd love to set something up like that, i was thinking something with a masking odor like lavender etc but havent found that perfect duo yet.

You should be able to since I saw a episode on How its made and they showed a thing where they grew lettuce on a floating raft in a hydro system.

tomatoes are very genetically similar to cannabis and enjoy much of the same growth patterns and habits. if i had to pick a vegetable to share root space with my cannabis, it would definately be tomatoes.

I like the little grape tomatoes the best. So sweet.
How are they genetically similar though? Do you mean they just like the same stuff or are they related somehow?
