ventilation for 8 cuft area?

I'm finishing up a cabinet that is about 8 cu ft and i am looking for suggestions on exhaust fans and perhaps something else I'm not considering. The cab. is 15'' x 22.5'' x 40'' and I will likely cut a hole in the bottom for a register to be installed, then put the exhaust out the top. So, if the air should be replenished every 2-4 minutes, I guess, would that mean to get a fan that is 4-5 CFM.

oh, the register I,m referring to is a regular ceiling register that measures like 3''x 10'' maybe.

Oh, my bad, that's all helpful info too. Currently will be runnin a single 125 watt CFL fixture that is going to run on a 12/12 cycle. I'll try to get a pic up for reference soon.

ok. Just remember, blue spectrum for veg and reddish spectrum for flower. You can just get a little fan to blow out the top or side as the cfl wont produce a ton of heat, but enough to where you will need something to get the little bit of heat out. Also. Will there be a little fan blowing on the plants? Plants give off gases and stagnate the air. You will want to make sure the leaves have alittle bit of movement to them so you don't produce moulds and bacteria build up.

yea, i have a couple different options for circulation. mostly my needs are in exhaust..
Grainger.com has some axial fans that are 110 volt and vary in cfm.

yeah, I appreciate ya'lls help, but I guess your experience is like mine, nonexistent, because I do believe my area to be about 12 cu ft. Therefore, 100 cfm fans seem to obviously be way overkill. I'm trying to determine the correct CFM rating for my application. My figures were in the 5-10 CFM range?

Well, are you just trying to grow a quarter ounce? Have you seen how a plant grows? They get pretty big and if you don't want to waste your time, start with something bigger that will allow you to start with a shop light. After a shop light, look to get a small HPS light like a 250w to allow you to get decent buds for a small area. Ive done many closet grows and that's your best initial starting point you should be looking at... that is if you can use a closet

Well it is said that you need a minimum of 40 watts per sq foot, is 125 watts enough?

So this is for veg and flower?

How tall do you intend to grow your plants?

How many plants are you aiming to grow?

Indeed.

From experience, I would say that you need a box that's at least 3 feet tall (to allow for lighting, carbon filter, fan).

Also you will want your plants to be around 2 feet, to give you a reasonable chance of a good yield, but no more than around two feet, to keep things reasonably stealthy.

And you should allow for 1 sq foot per plant, 1 1/2 if they are bushy.

I'll try to get a photo taken and uploaded, but yeah, my intentions are 12/12 from seed to keep size down. I have a good 3 ft of room under the light.

2 plants is about all I will have room for, but that shouldn't be of concern at this point. My thoughts(hopes) are that I can yield decent results with training.

125 watts may or may not be enough, but it's what I'm going to use. I'm using random bagseed to learn with, and experiment.

Well going 12/12 from the start is not your best bet.

The plants wont start flowering until they are mature enough.

To get them mature enough as quickly as possible you want to have them on a 24/0, 20/4 or 18/6 light schedule (I personaly prefer 20/4 personal choice) until they start showing pre flowers at around the 3 week mark, then bam, onto 12/12.
