It depends on your setup, HID or CFL?. Big? Small? Grow tent? Closet? bedroom, barn, garage????

I use this one as well. It's got 2 outlets on it. In my case, I have my exhaust fan plugged into it. I set the temp and humidity setting ( I run my dehumidifier 24/7, so I don't use the humidity setting or outlet on the climate controller) where I want and when the room hits a certain temp, it turns that outlet on, thus turning on my exhaust fan(10" CAN Max Fan to my Can 100 charcoal filter-(Can-Filter 100 - 39.5" Carbon Filter | Air Cleaners/Odor Control). My intake is passive, I have (2) 12" x 24" cutouts in the floor, therefore no intake fan is needed.
With the controller, the fan is turning on and off, when it's on, it's pulling in cool fresh air in via the passive intakes and when either the temp or humidity level drops below my presets on the climate controller, the fan turns off. It's not an issue in the winter(plants getting too cold) because the thermostat turns the fan on and off as needed.
If you have your intake/exhaust constanly on, which might be your case, I can understand your concern.
