Venting Into Attic Space Issue

I currently have a Scrog setup under 5 week old plants still vegging in a 11x11 room. The (2) 1k MH lights are being vented into the attic.

I believe doing this has made my house warm. I realize its summer but I can cool it off with the AC real quick and then even at night it'll warm right back up

So lets get onto my actual question. Should I put a motorized style exhaust on the roof? or maybe continue the venting from where I went into the ceiling and run it straight to where the air escapes? will either of these help with grow room temp and or house temp

oh my fan is 500 cfm in 11x11 room so its moving a lot of air into the attic. My friends rent out the other side of our duplex and they think its been getting warmer in their place also. The attic space goes over both sides as one.

I appreciate any help. keep in mind im renting and this is my second grow. I do not have a AC or Mini Split or anything but im working on that. My current issue I believe is that the hot air Im pushing into the Attic isnt naturally escaping at the same rate per say

put an attic fan in place of a vent, if possible. have it on a timer, either a thermal switch or a timed switch.

we used to have one in my old garage in florida, so it wasn't so hot in there for our dogs. it would come on when the temp reached 80*. which meant it was always on in florida. lol

Oh gosh. That's what I'm gonna look into doing. Michigan summers are 80+ and very humid. I'm sure your use to worse. But some relief during the night hours would be nice lol

I have a 10000 btu AC in the house but its top far away from the room or there just much air being sucked out for it to make a difference it seems

I have a dedicated 8000btu for my flower room. and I used to grow in a MI basement. 73/74* lights on and lights off. this was with the a/c of course.

Instead of adding a lot of noisy fans you could always try to go the LED route! Just saying!

LED over 2k watts HPS? I don't think yield would be even remotely comparable. I just bought a portable AC today actually. very excited about that.

Also going to vent that into the roof so I will have to set up some kind of roof exhaust I'm sure

Are you aircooling your lights and venting into the attic?

I stopped aircooling my lights a while back and quickly realized that I had just wasted energy for a long time.

that said, i know, some situations call for aircool lighting..

I do have air cooled hoods it controls the temp better for me then when I just vent without hooking em up. Either way I'm venting into the attic. Now I have an ac that needs to be vented the same.

So my issue was hot air building up in the attic. Its making our house and my friends on the other side of the duplex hotter in the other rooms it seems lol

Attic fan, or even build one w/ a high CFM fan...

Then plug it into a thermostat outlet, I got one from Amazon for like $30, best invention ever. Set it so if its more than 80f then fan kicks on, below 80, off she goes....

I got my A/C in mine right now (does heat/cool) But I recommend them to any grower I meet, best $30 purchase ever.... (I guess its 40 now)

Okay. I'm gonna prolly just vent with a typically inline fan like you recommended. Its a rental so I don't want to go through the process of installing a permanent thing. I'll set it up on a thermostat. I'm sure it'll run 24/7 in the summer. But I'll need it in the winter

If you are going to go through the trouble of venting the attic (due to exhausting TO the attic, heatiing the house) then why not just go ahead and route your aircool to exhaust out of doors rather than into that attic?

I mean, essentially it is the same thing. My guess is that setting up an attic exhaust vent will be less work?

It makes sense to me though.. I would think that sending all that hot air to the attic would definitely heat up the house.. especially if the attic is not ventilated passively very well..

Well at this point it would be less work but there is a window in the room. Directly facing a loving church going family. Granted I do have a carbon filter but it seems to me easier to vent through the ceiling as I have the window room complplately bordered and sealed off so no light leaks.

The filter slowed my fan down a lot and my neighbors back porch is right by this window. I'd rather leave it sealed and nothing to suspicion

Given all these factors.. I think installing an attic fan would be your best option.. there are many ways to do it.. your best option is probably the easiest/cheapest way that your situation will allow you to. I know that is vague, but.. ya know..

Carbon filters are a MUST if you vent into an attic -- especially one adjoining another unit, lol. Personally, I would just go buy a box of flex duct in whatever diameter your system uses, and extend my exhaust line all the way to the edge of the roof in a location preferably away from a door or neighbors windows. You could even install an exhaust register there if you wanted to, but in all reality if you just zip-tie the flex so that it is pointing out of the vents under the gable it should alleviate the temperature issues. But ALWAYS make sure you are running fresh carbon filters if you are going to vent directly to the outdoors.

Okay I thought about and that smell during flower stage is prolly going to be a lot worse then it was my first time around (2 plants under 800 watts)

Our neighbors are our best friends and they help watch my place. But I am gonna add the carbon filter back on. I felt like it slowed my airflow too much. Only reason I took it off to begin with

Ok, i am in ohio and understand your issue with summer weather causing problems with indoor temps., also i have been in the construction field for 10+ years. I would suggest adding a ridge vent into your roof peak. Basically they roll the shingles back, cut a gap at the peak of your roof and install a ridge vent, allowing air flow through your soffit vents from under the over hang, and pulling it out the peak thru the ridge vent. This with your carbon filter air being emptied into your attic, would pull heat out the top.
My vent dumps into my attic too, and this summer i have had temps in the upper 100's in my attic. I do not have the ridge vent but have thought about getting it after the crop is done. Right now my outlet duct is thru the ceiling out the soffit (overhang on the side of the house), connected to a outside vent, like what you have your dryer hooked up to on the outside of your house.
Temps. inside the tent stay at about 76-80 depending on how hot it is outside. Also I do not have a carbon filter, I have an ozone generator that completely covers the odors, thats why i do not list it above in my venting.
But i will be buying one and regulating the ozonator use with a timer. Just my ideas and thoughts.....
