Vermiculite or perlite ??

Hey guys and gals,, wondering what is the difference between the two accept the price,,
Perlite is hard to get rid of,, vermiculite would blend into your ground a lot easier

The only similarity is price; they're completely different.
Vermiculite can hold many times its weight in water
Perlite does not absorb water and is used to aerate a mix.

For the sake of accuracy perlite holds water but less than Vermiculite, 100% perlite can be used effectively, Vermiculite is more cork/sponge like and holds onto water better slowly releasing it back into the medium.
Basically they're about fine tuning the moisture retention ability.
Wetter for longer = Vermiculite.
Drier quicker = perlite.
