Hello RIU
I have a question as to how to orient my lighting. I am growing in an attic space with only about 5 feet at the peak. The floor area for the flower room is 8' by 12'. Veg area 8' by 5' ( no problem there just using t8's). I have tried different combinations. 3 x 400 hps in home made hoods. 1 1000 hps and 1 400 hps.
I am having trouble with bleaching and Heat/Light stress. The ventilation out the roof is powered by two box fans through cupolas. They keep the space about 5 degrees above ambient air temp. I live in Mi so the only way i could cool them is to add frozen jugs of water in the reservoir (located in the cooler area below the attic) and run a constant top feed. I initially thought the girls were yellowing out at the top of the plants due to over watering.
After spending some time in the forums I concluded it was primarily the heat. They had a couple of 90 degree days. Arg.. that's 95 to 98 in attic. Scary but everybody survived. Sort of... yellow
I wonder if i ran the bulbs vertical if they would give me better light distribution. The walls and ceiling are 1" foam with the radiant foil side facing in. My thought is that it would sort of form a single large hood. I have no idea how reflective that foil is.
Thanks for Your Help
