Vertical vs Horizontal? Adjustawing vs Umbrella Shade?

HI

having been growing for a while now i fancy a change of lights. ive been using adjusta wings for a while and have no complaints other than the heat in my grow room. i was thinking of just fitting cool tubes to my adjustawings, or even go for the new AEROWING but was advised against it when i headerd to my local growshop. i was advised to get umbrella shades and hang the bulbs vertically?

this is quite dif for me as i have only ever dealt with horizontaly hung bulbs but the guy down the grow shop swears by them and apparently swapped his adjustawings for them months before with no regrets.

having researchd them a little. one main and truly notable critic of the vertical light is the legendary jorge cervantes?

so i was wonderin what everyone thought of horizontal vs vertically hung lights? and prticularly which hoods worked best? adjustawing vs umbrella shade?

any advise is greatly appreciated and more than welcome

if you're lighting from the top, go horizontal.
If you're going vertical, then dont use a reflector, and hang your bulb down in the middle of your plants. A reflector on a vertical bulb is just going to trap heat. Vert lighting is to give plants lights more from the sides than from the top.
