Hey everyone so I have about $300 to spend on a new grow light I was wondering if The VIPARSPECTRA 900 watt LED would outperform A 200 Watt Watt cob LED? I can get the Amazon grow light for $300 or I can get the 200 Watt Watt Cobb LED through timber grow lights for 350 what would you guys do?

The VS only actually runs at 418W and the COB`s are far better technology so go for them etc, the 200W COB will easily outyield the VS

Do you think the 200 watt would yield a pound in a 3x3 or 4x4 ? Or should I save up a little bit more money and get the 400 watt version ? How much would it cost you guys to build a 400 watt cob setup ? I can get a timber for like 550? I would love to yield a pound every three months ?

the LED lads on here seem to recommend 25-30w/sqft with COBs so depends on what kind of area you want to cover etc

Ok so 400+ for 4x4 and 225+ for 3x3 ! Thinking I'm gonna do the 3x3 and 250 watts of lights ! Maybe I'll even do two grow tents !

I bought my Cree Cobs @ $38ea x 5 + $99 driver + $14 for a 25' piece of 1/8" angle aluminum for the frame for a grand total of $305 for a 250w COB light. It would be cheaper if you went with Vero29 Cobs.

Edit: Oops, completely forgot the heatsinks, which was a big cost @ $24ea. That makes a 200w Cree Cob light for under $300 not doable but you may be able to do the Vero29 if you shop around for best prices and find cheaper heatsink options.

This is exactly what I was looking for !! Now can anyone explain to me what the difference from say 12v, 36v etc ? What would I want for good efficiency but also high wattage ?
