I've just ordered some seeds they'llarive in a couple of weeks.

I'm growing indoors and it is my first time ive bought some soil and pelite. I also have two 500w lights already so i have some decent equipment on a tight budget and I've done alot of research but I am still confused about some very basics like the flowering stage with the 12 hours on then off I'm just kinda lost, I know I probably sound so dumb and stuff but I really wanna make this work, I really wanna know the core basics and so on.

thanks to anyone who is willing to help

One confussion is the confussion on the lighting. The 2 stages after the Babies pop up, is #1. The Vegetative Stage & the Flowering (pre Flowering) stage. Don't concern yourself, now, with the flowering stage. You have time to study that. I used one 1,000 watt HPS on a track lighting system. 13 plants. Fan cooled. Awesome. One, Two, Three, Ouch, is the rule of thumb. Palm down, the top of your hand at exactly the height of the tallest plant, move/adjust light(s) to where at 4 seconds, the top of hand gets hot-ouch. It's highly important to keep the light as close as possible without heat burn. 1 1/2 inch to 3, depends on your lights. Outdoors, the wind blows... the leaves are turned bottom side up to the sun. This means, it's natural for light to also shine on the underside of the leaves. That's why I use mylar on the floor, also. Mylar 1 inch away from the outter plants, adjusted every day or so. I made a mobile wall on 2 sides. I leave my light on 24 hours per day. Not 18,... 24/7. To balance the average 1 1/2 inch per day per branch, you need a good, healthy rooting system. Liquid Seaweed is a natural Rooting Stimulator. It also contains 90 components (amazing). Your seeds is NOT already male/female. Any stress will cause the plant to become male, like crowding the root system. Hope this helped.

Ahh thanks alot man that helped quite a lot. I've been researching loads and I'm kinda worried 'cause the two lights I have are 500W each but they use halogen bulbs...so yeah I already had them so I'm not sure if they're like shit or acceptable.

Put shit in, get shit out. If I wrote a book, stating what not to do that I have done, or thought about, then you will do great. And I thought a light was a light. Put away the halogen.... I am a Master furniture/woodworker. Big deal. I will not attempt to do shit with shit. You can run in circles, trying to fix a bad situation, or Two Bulls, standing on a hill, overlooking their Ladies, 30 cows. The Young Bull says to the older Bull, "Let's run down the hill & fuck a couple cows!!"The Old Bull say's "Why don't we walk down the Hill, & fuck them all??? "The main mistake man does, when growing plants, is to try to improve Mother Nature, as opposed to working with Her." Yes, your being impatient. That will handicap you. Also, Taking a trip is fun, but also, planning the trip can be just as fun. One can be highly construtive. Once I read about the prism, light colors, what the plants need-demand, then I cut my financial expense & used 1/3rd of my income to create a healthy growing envirenment. The Garden of Eden, if you will. That's why I used credit cards to.. invest in my future. 4 months, 6 months, big deal. A Plan, and a hope. That's really cool. Nobody else at work had a plan. Anyway, step back, regroup, start with a solid connerstone. Make it easy. Walk down the Hill, & fuck'em all! I meant in prior post that the confussion is the misinformation on the net. If you can comprehend all the ego BS, then it's best to shoot yourself, because there is no definate answer. IE; Peat?, Topping?, Chem ferts?, windex for spider mites?, Hot Shot?, Dude, there is more harm done that good, with all this BS. If you want to do it right, listen to Master Gardeners, every Sat. & Sun, on your AM radio. Take notes. If one accepts chem ferts, turn your dial. HPS lighting is the best, over all, my opinion. I'd rather have the MH for veg., then HPS for Flowering. The light mover will do 15 Ladies, regular will do 5. Do the math. Now, to get lighting at a good price. Everyday, Electritians are doing Demo, pulling 1,000 watt HPS & MH lights off the site, to throw them away. Work on connects, for an OZ., trade for whatever lights you need, ballast, etc. Enough for now. "Walk down, & do it right". Later Dude.

Halogen lights are a big no no. They will give you nothing good for the plant and cause major heat problems. If you have a bit of cash to invest get a HPS bulb, if your on a budget then CFL bulbs will do. Research HPS and CFL lighting to find what would best suit your needs.
