Just curious what this demographic's views are on Walmart. Coming from a family thats always had small businesses and seeing first hand the destruction they've done to our company's profits I hate them and go out of my way to give other small businesses my business. So I shared how about you?

Your point is a valid one. I don't think it takes into account the benefit it also brings to the economy -- lower prices, variety and high supply. As acute as the problem is for some individuals or families, I think it's a wash.

Lol, I don't have many other options for shopping, Walmart won that war.

Besides, they have everything under one roof, what more could you ask for?

Hell yeah. I hate the store, it's so slow to get through the registers, but if they have what you need then it's cheaper there than anywhere else 'cept the internet.

BTW in the pet department they have those little stickers for attaching to an aquarium to tell the water temp, for like $1.29 or something. Perfect for sticking on the side of your reservoir for res temp. :)

It's cheaper food that is exactly the same at other grocery stores.... Might as-well for the benefit for myself :P

I do also shop at small businesses if they have what I want, In canada small businesses do alot better because they limit how much walmarts the put in.

I skip walmart altogether. Not out of principle for the little guys, but because no matter what time you go, morning, day or in the dead of night, it's always crowded beyond belief with rude, ignorant, dirty people. It's totally not worth the troubles of saving a couple bucks. Give me a target any day of the week.

I don't shop there because there is not one nearby. When I lived elsewhere and I was closer to one, I did go a few times and I enjoyed it. I kind of liked it because i thught it was hokey and i could be a wallmart shopper for the first time in my life so i wanted to try it out. i wouldn't buy produce there, i am very weird about the meats and veggies I buy, i don't like mass produced crap.

Walmart gives me what I want, when and how I want it on everyday items.

Rarely do I purchase Items that are $100 or above from them, the big money goes to small business.

Thanks for the interesting input so far. I know some of you have no other option. My sisters live in bumfuck Kansas and yeah Walmart is their only option, so even I had to shop there while I visited, couldn't be helped.

It is kinda sad that as you drive through town to get to Wal-mart you have to see all these small shops closed along the city streets.

OK Walmart..
A couple of years ago I bought a 32" Dig. TV from the Redding Store, when I bought it I also got the extended warranty.
95 Day after I got it it fucks up and the store warranty was expired, Ah Ha I thought I got that extended warranty.
I got it out and called the telephone number I live in California btw the guy answers and he get my mail addy and says We'll send you a box, then I ask where you at and he says New York, Fuck they send me a box for the TV UPS Ground took 1 1/2 weeks to get here. I try to put the TV in the box guess what the fucking box is too small even tho they asked me my model number and everything....
I get on the phone tell them my story, don't worry we'll get you one out tomorrow, another 1 1/2 weeks i wait. The box gets here it's too big but I whacked it down and got the TV and Invoice in the box and sent it on it's way another 1/12 weeks, they get it according to the UPS Tracker and I hear nothing for a week so I call after getting the run around for 1/2 an hour I get to talk to the guy that's supposed to fix it "No Papers for the repair work warranty" (Invoice) so I fax it to them and wait a few days and call, Oh we are waiting on parts........... They get it fixed after sitting in their shop 2 weeks and ship it off to me another 1 1/2 week wait...
So after almost 8 weeks of watching TV on a 12" screen AND I'm almost blind LOL I get it back. 8 weeks!! Shipped across the US 3 times and it worked!!!

I later talked to a friend that used to work on the docks where they unloaded the Shipping containers for Walmart and it's all about speed and not being gentle with the packages if they missed the conveyor and it hit the ground just throw it back on no the way out to the next container, Gypsy work.
I just don't buy electronics from them that includes toasters!!

Walmart is nothing but bad juju for Mom & Pop stores.
Up here were I live there 's not enough population to have one within 60 miles of us.
I love going to Fall River and checking out the things made locally up here.
It's hard to set up something that lots of people will use, I'd love to be one of the first to open a "Cannabis Coffee Shop"
up here, but I don't know how many hoops I'd have to jump thru to have a chance.

Walmart is no different then Target other than the lower prices. The fact of the matter is, as mentioned, they have everything you can possibly need for starters. Then they have Supercenters going up all over [I should know, 3 opened in my area alone within the past 3-years] & another is getting put in, this offers groceries like Raley's or Food4Less, but it will actually be LESS. So they win on the food. The products are no different then Target or Kmart [there's a dump] & they don't break on you 3-months laters but the mom & pop stores item lasts forever! Don't buy it... 70% of the products are of name brand in any department, best tools, best food, best TV, best battery brands for God's sake, PLUS - PLUS - they have a damned Mc. Donalds! Wtf? How can you not win when you offer fast food within the store?

So here's what I'm saying... what do you think happens when a store offers literally EVERYTHING [including fast food] - it ATTRACTS EVERY TYPE OF PERSON. Everyone wants to save money in this economy, therefore they want the best deal, & Walmart offers that for EVERYTHING, including medicine on the floor, muscle building shakes, diet pills & such, AND NOW a pharmacy that has generic meds [identical to name brand meds] for the lowest pharmacy prices of ANYWHERE, so now they attract old people & young people on medication that pay stupid a** prices elsewhere. Sh*t they even have a PHOTO place to take family photos & crap... what do you expect to see at Walmart other than trailer trash, blacks, whites, skinheads, gangsters, higher class, lower class, & everything in between...? It may be dirty, but it's worth it... & the thing is, it's not they're fault everyone wants to shop there, they do try to keep the place clean [I worked there before] but when you have a million customers of all ages coming in & dropping gum, products, etc. it's hard to keep up. I will say they are an evil business, but what billionaire business ISN'T evil?

no offense, but what you see are not benefits, unless your corporate wallmart employess.

Walmart Managers, employess, office personel, and contractors ALL get paid less than national average, and in many cases, less than local averages. sure they hire more handicapped people than anyone, they also have a huge turnover of those same people when sickness worsens. they cut/fire/layoff those same employees when they get sic. Fire them for Legally using Medical Marijuana. They use No Union employees in their construction projects. not that im a union guy, but they also use contractors that hire illegal workers so they can pay them less, and both walmart and the main contractor make millions on them, and then use tax shelters for using disabled, and low/poverty stricken citizens to get out of Millions and Millions in tax money.

a LARGE part of the items walmart sells are made in china. regardless of name brand. take FOTL for instance.

Walmart bought the right to use the FOTL logo on items walmart has made at chinese companies for cents on the dollar. they sell these items for HUGE markups, but appear to be SAVING YOU, the customer 3.00 a package for FOTL undies.
now the FOTL undies sold at walmart are thinner, cheaper, and made of mech less qualiy material than the FOTF undies you buy say at target, or meijers, or your local department store that isnt a national.

the FOTL undies they sell are high quality made Fruit of the Loom Undies. not some cheap chinese knockoff that ou need to buy more of the following year. if you would of bought the none chinese shit. youd have a set of FOTL undies that would last you 5 yrs, per pkg, instead of a yr per package.

walmart can SUCK MY COCK!

the ONLY Brightspot at walmart is they use Murphy oil at their gas stations.
Murphy Oil is the ONLY US gas retailer that uses 100% USA produced crude oil.
which really is an oxymoron in effect.
