Waste of time?

I've got my plans together and am ready to build my first stealth grow. I just want to run it by before starting to build.

The dimensions of the area i have to work with is 2' high, 2' wide, and a foot deep. I also need to consider the light fixture and bulbs (5-6inches) and plant container (5 inches). This will leave me roughly 13 inches of growth room. PC grows must be even less space. I hope to grow 3 plants in box. 2 autoflowering lowryder 2's and one of some type of non autoflowering. Is this even realistic?

IF you think it is i have more questions. I want to use CFLs that plug into a regular outlet. How many should i use for the area above, about four square feet. Also what type and how many? exact brand etc. would be helpful.

Also what should i ask for when buying computer fans at best buy. I want something that just plugs into the wall if possible and is quiet. If making it quiet involves buying smaller fans and using more of them thats fine. Where along the walls of the grow box should i install the intake and exhaust fans?

My last question... for now... is how tobuild the light trap. i haven't yet figured out how to keep the light from showing through the intake and exhaust holes in the stealth box.

thanks for your help

Another question. Do HPS lightbulbs fit into a standard light fixture? if so what type and how many, 150 HPS, 400 HPS? I would go that route if you think it is better thanCFL.

With an HPS bulb, you need to buy the correct ballast and socket, so I'd go with CFL of short tube fluorescents. Honestly, I think you're going to have a hell of a time keeping them short enough. I'm sure it's possible to grow a plant that short, but you better read up on some techniques first(like FIM).

This is a box I built into an aquarium stand. It's 30" wide, 26" tall, and 12" deep. The left side has 2 120mm computer fans exhausting, they are wired to a 12v adapter. The baffle has a big hole in it, which I mounted a nifty little DIY carbon scrubber to. I made it out of 2 tupperware things from the grocery store, some hot glue, and window screen. the carbon serves as the exhaust light trap.
The right side right now has 4x55w pl-l compact fluorescents, the twin-tube types(kinda sucky). but I'm changing them out to 2 100w hps. the ballasts are over in the left side to keep heat out. the intake is on the back wall, and I have a piece of aluminum sheet metal spaced 1" off the back wall that functions as a light trap. no light escapes. sounds no louder than a computer. Use a screen, and the vertical space isn't too limiting. This is just to give you some ideas, since it's just about the same size as what you're working with. the reflective shit is vinyl sign material, like the stuff mailbox letters are made of. similar to mylar, but with a sticky back.

And a flowering sativa with a 2 foot stem that's 10 inches tall 5 weeks into flower with no cutting or trimming. Small spaces require creativity, but are hardly impossible.

Nah man! even low ryder can get to 20+ ins, and if you do manage to make them flower before they are due to, the plant will be too flimsy to hold up any bud weight, basically you'll be lucky to get pop-corn fluffy buds,or not? and the plants can still exceed 14 ins diameter/ circumference per plant, you could grow 1 in there if you cleverly SCROGed it ( trained the stems to grow round the perimeter of your )or put a wire mesh with 2" square holes in it and poke the bud stem through to create more light penetration and air flow. 2 fans a 120mm at the bottom pulling air in and another at the to sucking it out wired to a transformer or dimmer switch to lower the wattage to its lowest point :) try using 125w envirolite/CFL R/B spec or maybe a 90w Led ufo+ vent the top, good luck write back when you can ~ Stelthy :)
