water 1200 ppm before nutes?

what do you do when your water measures 1200 before adding any nutes,i found out now why i had nute burn real bad.i just had the town water tested the other day.someone said a reverse osmosis machine wont work because my water is to high in iron,i dont know if this is true it was told to me by the seller of a reverse osmosis machine.you would think he would know and want to make the sale but his english was bad so maybe i never understood him right,if i buy water from a shop is that 0 ppm to start.any one have this problem and what did you do.

sounds like something isn't quite right. I bought a RO sysem for my room. Took at least 20 minutes to install it. Keeps everything cleaner.

i went through all the water ? and you and abudsmoker both had high ppm well water,i was going to pm you,but thanks for comeing on,so what should i do with such high ppm,im going into town to by bottled water for the vegging plants even though they were just waterd im going to flush them with pure water and use a dilluted nute mix,for the ones well into flowering that suffered much abuse because of this i wonder if i should just give it strait well water for last three waterings with out nutes because of high ppm in water already or would you flush them and give them a good feeding with pure water and its normal nute cycle for this time in flowering they are 51/2 weeks in,and will a ro machine clean up my water and what kind do i need thanks vv.i can tell your a solid guy,we have sparred on t5,s for flowering and you still remain solid.your all right,wisdom and maturity counts for alot.

holy shit your water is nasty. i thought mine was rancid at 460 ppm. jesus man start a cleanup mission in your town or something! i am to cheap to buy a RO filter at the moment, so i buy my water from the store.

i just checked my urine is better .....
500-600 from a well is normal

from normal city water 300-500

a great system 75-150

Reverse osmosis 7-55

i use a filter that can make 200 gallons a day of pure water. this is from nasty well water even. the better the water into the filter the faster it will be leached out of the filter.

thanks all,ya it is nasty i started seeing all my leaves get spots then go bronze and then fall off,so when i leached the soil with a lite nute solution it would of still been high,i have no idea why my water is like that,im going to send it to a lab for testing tommorow but i tested my buddies well water with the same gizmo his was 600 i tested city water with the same system it was 150 and tested mine it was 1140,it cost me dearly,the plants have two weeks left and very few leafs,and the leaf on the bud is half rotten a quarter inch more and it will be rottenn right to the bud,so i dont know what to do,i guess i need an osmosis machine,but i hope if i just use water from here to harvest i will be not to bad,i will get bud but half the weight.i guess i have to harvest at 7 weeks,it is still potent as hell but very little weight.

That is the same one I have. The output is also dependent on water temperature. Even with the low temps in Michigan I can still get 85 gal/day. All of the equipment, reservoirs, pots, tables, etc. stay cleaner using the ro because the salt is gone. If you are considering getting RO for you whole house not just the grow its of course a lot more money. I think my brother paid like a couple thousand for one big enough for his whole house. VV

i would lust use it for the grow,but does it clean everything,the guy at the hydro store said it would not clean my water,or maybe just the one he had in the store,they come in stages what stage would i need.

the town said that the total dissolved solids is 700 leaveing the plant,for some reason when it gets to my place it is above 1000,isnt 700 even bad for plants.

by the way whats is your thoughts on mixing 2/3rds bottled water and a 1/3rd tap water is that a bad idea.i know i have to get a R/O machine but it is not in the budget right now,but later it will be,plus the summer water was ok it is just the winter water that is so drastic.but i thank all who took the time to reply,because ive read every thing their is on the forums,ive read three grow books and went through over 200 hT and CC magazine issues to find answers and it is all vague,no real testamonies are such.all i know is i just put in 3 weeks clones,6 weeks veg,5 weeks flowering and now im at this stage,it is sad sad sad.over a 1/3rd of a years worth of time.i will be lucky to get 7 grams per plant,but the ones in veg should i flush them with strait bottled watter or with mild nutes.and what about mixing tap and bottled.

Trapper what is the ph and ppm of the ground water available close to you? Anything you use that is 'better water' will help. I would consider taking a sample of your house water to the municipality. Its not just the ppm its what nutes is in that ppm. Rain water might be an option sometimes.

wow that is really high ppm anything above 200 ppm is hardwater.Might wanna get a new water softner and filter

i dont have a water softner and apparently i need one if i want an RO to be usefull FF.vv i phoned the treatment plant and they said that the tds leaveing the treatment plant is 700.i then took the water to a water shop today and they said it was 290,and the hydro shop yesterday said it was around 1100.the water shop had a cheap tds pen that they said may need calibrateing,i bought a hanna ph meter from a friend that doesnt work,it was brand new and the store wont exchange it and i tried re calibrateing it and either i dont know how or it wont work.so now im useing the old drop method and my ph is a bit above 8 sometimes 9,sometines 7.5 so i use ph down to get it around 6.5.but what i do know is all my plants had nute burn to the fullest,which wasnt a problem in summer.if i use half tap half bottled and use a 1/3rd of the nutes would that work or should i use strait tap with dilluted nutes and flush with bottled water once a month,or use strait bottled with reg nute feeding,also what will happen when the leaf that is part of the bud is half way burnt with two weeks to go will it creep right to the bud and rot the bud.i cant afford 1200 for water softner and 400 fo RO,but i do want to get these next vegging plants right,and what will epson salt do,and does RO bottled water need something extra in nutes that may be taken out by machine.thanks.

i fill up my water at those self serve fill machines. collect a bunch of those 5 gallon jugs and your set. 1.50 for 5 gallons. so its about 9 dollars for 30 gallons. i know it adds up over time, but its alot better than forking over 1600 dollars to get your water right. if anyone asks why u get so much water. say your fish cant live in tap water and they need clean water.
