Water Tap, Distilled...?

I am lost about water. My tap has a ph of 6.9 I found distilled that is 7.8. I don't know what to do? Does the PH in water really matter? Should I just used distilled? I have been useing tap but one of my plants the lower two leaves turned a yellowish color dryed up and died. The rest are ok and the other plants look good. Could tap water of caused the dead leaves?

Rofl bro you ll get more probs with distilled imo stick to your tap water yellowing of leaves near the bottom is normal in a mature plant its just using stored food from the bottom of the plant as it should do if its happening at the top id be worried you got a def!!

proper pH is everything without that u have failure

distilled water that you find from the store should be right around neutral at 7. if anything it can run a little acidic if the water is open to the air and can thus absorb some acidic CO2 from the air, so I am surprised by your 7.8 measurement. I like to run my water a little on the acidic side, mid 60's, so your tap water might be better to use...it depends on what your PH is after you puts all your nutrients in. PH is important, that's why i just bought a new MW102 meter. If you have to buy all your water (what a bitch!) i'd go to hannaford/other supermarket and fill your jugs there for half the price of a fresh gallon off the shelves. i don't think they offer distilled this way, but the spring water they offer is probably good stuff--you'd have to check.
