got 5 gallon bucket with a net lid have air stone and pump but if the air pump runs non-stop the water feels real warm right now i have it set to 15min on 30min off and the water feels cool, what should the temp be? it has about 3.5 gallons of water in it to let the bottom of the net get wet. thanks for any help..

800-1000ppm is the max you should use, unless the plant shows deficiencies. Ramp up to it slowly, week by week. Start around 4-500. As the roots extend below the net pot the water needs to be about 3in below the net. This allows the roots to absorb oxygen.
Change water about every 12 days or so. Raise ppm levels at this time. Lower ppm at week 7 by 20%. Plain water last week for a good flush. Check and adjust ph daily.
Insulate the bucket to help control temps.
If you do all these things, you should find DWC to be pretty easy.

thanks .the first week in the bucket there where veg with 800ppm sensi grow now there in 12-12 with 800ppm sensi bloom and there looking great so do i just keep it there?the ph has been about 6.3 do i drop it to 5.8 even if there doing great? started 12-12 on 6/21 and added bud blood to the veg nutes for a week before i changed to the bloom nutes a few days ago.i'm still useing the 1000w mh i was thinking 3-4 weeks of bloom with it before i put the hps in? any thoughts ?thanks again i'm hoping this will be my best grow ever..

You probably worked up to 800PPM, right? you may need to go up as the plant matures. DWC will show deficiencies very quickly. Takes out a lot of the guesswork, just watch closely. She will tell you when.
6.3 is very high for DWC. I always ran around 5.8 or so. Bring it down in steps over 2-3 days. You'll find the ph creeps up over time. It's normal.
Either light will do. HPS at the flip if you must.

they were getting 800ppm of the veg nutes so i just gave them 800ppm bloom nutes but they look good and i see bud now . i started with 6.3 ph but it goes down slowly not up.

Around 10-12 days into flower you may want to up it to 1000 PPM. They eat a lot during the stretch. Obviously all strains are different, but I always push em till they tell me to stop. I've heard of people going as high as 15-1600 in DWC. I never went over 1100 though.
An old saying was : if the Ph goes down they're thirsty, if it goes up, they're hungry. I'm pretty high right now, might have that backwards. You should research this a bit. I can't remember my Ph ever going down on it's own, seems I had to buy Ph down by the gallon.

it started at at 6.3 ph and 800ppm 3 days later it was at 5.2 ph and ppm was around 1000 they used about 1/2 gallon of water?? i got ph up and added 2 ml to each bucket now there at 5.7 but a lot of leaves already looked bad and a bunch fell off? anything else i can do or just watch them and let them finish? i'll get a pic tonight thanks for all the help.

def raise the ppm. if you're running dwc 1200-1300 is common during heavy bloom (especially with a 1000w light), your ph looks good though

Just as I thought, I had it backwards. I still think above 6.0 is way too high for hydro. Do some research, check some of the stickies in the hydro section. The rise in PPM is related to the solution concentrating as the plants drink the water and in extremes can leave an unbalanced solution behind. Hence, the daily top off with plain water for solution health. The add back rule: add back plain water until you've equaled the original amount of solution, the change it out.

pics ..i have to check each bucket every day the ph just keeps going crazy..but every bucket is different some stay at 5.7-5.8 some go up to 6.2 others go down to 4.9 there taking a beating and the leaves are dieing any help?

Not sure that's a Ph issue. Looks like they're starving. Phosphorus in particular. Change out the solution and refill with higher PPM. Step it up about 100-150 PPM at most. Set Ph at about 5.8 and readjust as it creeps up to 6.2.No higher.
Remove the badly damaged leaves and watch em closely.
Are those individual buckets? Man, that's gotta be a nightmare to keep full and balanced. Before next run, set up a controller and recirculate! It's easy. There's a very detailed tutorial somewhere around here, I'll see if I can find it.
Good luck

i have a 250 gph pond pump but i just don't see how i could use it the res would need to be lower then the buckets and they would need to be plumbed to the res and it would be a pain to clean them and change the water?

You should be changing the nutrient solution every week to 10 days and refill with fresh nutrient solution. Top off with ro water until the next change. The air pump should be on 24/24 or the solution will not be oxygenated enough.
