Water - The simplest of things...and yet I still have questions

So yes, noob here and I'm asking about something so simple as water.

I started off using just R/O water but then as the Happy Frog started running out of nutrients and I wasn't feeding it nutrients every watering, I started having some deficiency issues. Transplanted into a Ocean Forest Mixture (3 parts OF, 2 parts HF and 1 Part Perlite to be exact), and watered with TAP WATER and half doses of Grow and Micro to make a 5-5-5 treatment but just not at full dose (I had just transplanted into new soil so didn't figure that AND a full dose would be too smart, I dunno) and then a full dose of Cal-Mag. They responded positively.

Now, I am a week out of all that (also did some training and the last of any topping I'm going to attempt) and it's definitely watering day today. Should I use Roided out R/O water or just use Tap again? With Tap the thing that concerns me is it normally has chlorine in it.. I can Ph it all of course. Been trying to get "close" to 6.8 on the water going in. That said, I tested some of my runoff and it was in the 5's..

Thanks!

I'll test it today. It's probably not "that" bad. I think a long time ago I may have used one of those aquarium bubblers or something like that. Let's put it this way, I ran almost 2 gallons through each bag and they haven't had anything bad to say about the tap I used before here recently when I was having those nutrient issues that I believe you advised me on as well. :)

Thanks for being so active btw. I always appreciate the input, always trying to learn. I think what I've learned so far is that there is no magic formula. Many people do it many different ways but sooner or later people I think just land on the way that's most comfortable for them. I'm not proud, I'll take advice from them all! LOL

I wouldn’t trust runoff tests in soil, do a slurry. Soil and water overnight then strained through a coffee filter. Water is your choice, i use tap after 24 hours gassing off but my dehum is cranking about 3 gallons a day too.
Edit: muni tap is usually high 7’s pH, another factor.

Thanks! Honestly, I wouldn't normally be looking at runoff unless there's some unexplained issue. I'm a noob and want to tighten up my basics. There's SO many things that I read about people doing but maybe I learn some of the finer points over time? I'm sure there are those who swear by it and are applying the scientific method to their grow if they'll be able to get an extra quarter ounce out of it. I do this so that I can save money, KNOW what is in it and it brings me a sort of peace when I'm minding my little garden for some reason. I'm going to stick with tap. I poured it this morning and added my nutes (full doses this time around so we shall see...). Been sitting out all day. Just gotta go deal with the Ph and then start puling them out for their weekly trip to the big island for baths and haircuts.. LOL
