watering soilless medium

when it comes to watering your plants, i've read many threads where ya'll say water when it's dry. or go by the weight by getting to know the weight of the container when watered and when dry. pretty explanatory.

but for those very A-type personality folks out there who are starting out and want to see their plants healthy how about some stats.

how about some replies with how much exactly do you water each plant when it IS dry so that we have an idea how much water to measure out when watering. then i think from there we can practice the weight method when watered a little better.

for instance how much water do you generaly use when you water a 3" container or a 6" container or 3gal, 5gal containers.

example:
3" = 150ml?
6" = 200-300ml?

and so forth.

also mention if you're using potting soil, soilless, aero, dwc and so forth.

just a thought that may clear up a somewhat cloudy topic for some.
thanks.

i use a 6 gal. container, full of promix, and i water about every 84 hours during flowering. right after transplant, they got 10000 mls of water(no nutes) a day for 3 days, then during veg they got 4000 ml, every other day. right now they get 6000 ml every 3.5 days.

ya mr. rutherford i have a drip/drain system and i let water drip on my little ones (about 3 1/2 weeks old) for 7 min. every 8 hrs. I think the only way i could measure the mLs is to hook up another driper into a measuring cup. I'm pretty much guessing and would like to know what the ideal would be.
