Watering system using aquarium canister

Hello all,

Wanted to see if anybody here has ever used an aquarium canister to power their watering system? I'm looking to use a canister that pumps out 350gph, connected to a PVC rigging to water my entire grow from a 50gallon drum.

Anyone ever make anything like this? Marineland Magnum 350

Thanks in advance

That seems really ornate just to power a watering system. You can buy a 398gph pump for far less then that canister costs. Just seems like alot of extra parts/gadgets/bs that arent really needed, especially since canister filters are often designed to house some type of filter element. If you have some type of bacterial bloom (ie root rot or other) the filter will house the bacteria far better then a pump will. Cleaning it will be a bigger pain in the ass. Just seems like alot of extra work for no additional benefit.

Thank you for the feedback randomhero1,

I have two of the aquarium canisters in my garage, so cost on those wouldnt be an issue...Although I do see your point about housing bacteria inside of the cansiter. The filteration media can be taken out, but its still a closed system and could cause issues.
