Can I grow watermelons in a 5 gallon bucket does anyone know? May be a dumb question but I have never really grown anything legal before and the instructions say to grow it in a hill like a potato. Anyone know?? Thanks

a 5 gallon bucket should be enough. You might be able to get away with 1 to 2 gallon. I will be growing watermelon to this year. =)

When I was a kid, I planted 2 watermelon seeds in the ground in the beds that surrounded our patio. Long story short, it grew vines that grew over most of it (400 sq. ft.). So you are going to need a lot of space. Peace, jethead

That but if he grows it indoors he would have to rig some thing up to make the vine grow out to certen ways and can help increase the food production.

Why would you grow watermelon indoors in the summer?
I can't grow most things out side because of the bears and such not to mention you can get more fruit production because you can give them light 24/0 and they grow faster then things out doors some times.

Also the weather here in the summer has hit 40c but it usually hits in the low to mid 30c range.
