"Waterproofed" lights - worth it, or pain in the ass?

I've heard some mention that LED grow lights with the IP65 waterproofing attract dust, some say it's useless, etc...

Wondering, is it worth the peace of mind? Or does it just get in the way / cause more problems?

I'm looking at this Kingbrite light, it's only an extra $5 for the waterproofed light, and I grow in a converted bathroom where the humidity can get kinda high.

Do you plan on spraying the lights with water? If not I'm sure you're ok without it. I'm sure either is fine. For $5 if it makes you feel better go for it. If humidity gets to the point where it's a problem for your lights then it's going to be a problem for your plants too.

Not planning on spraying lights. Not very common to clean them, right?

On my last grow I don't think my humidity really got above 40% that often. And I did spray the flowers down at night, right under the lights, but after the lights were off, to protect my eyes.

The lights would stay off until morningtime, so it would dry off anyways if they did get wet.

So I guess waterproofing is not really necessary it seems... (just that I do grow in a bathroom... still worried a pipe could burst one day... but I guess it wouldn't start a fire, just short out the light if it did)

Why would you spray your plants? You feed them via the roots not the leaves.

If you have a pipe burst in your bathroom you have more to worry about than if your lights are waterproof. :-D

you sprayed your buds when the lights were off? yikes. big no no there
never spray when lights just turned off and never spray buds there feller. asking for budrot mold etc
foliar feeding is great in veg and EARLY flower. thats it. spray an hour or so before lights on or spray with lights on and dim for an hour. never spray buds.

Pay the 5 bucks dont be stupid, 1p65 is dustproof too. For 5 youd be crazy not to. If you have fire, your covered with ip65. Buy ip54 and insurance higher. Plus no free pass like ip65 and up. Safety above all. Please look up codes. What they meen.

Anything can happen, and will. I dont spray unless bug infestation, pm too viable in my area. Rh is 80 in my flower during lights on. 30 nitetime. Humidity will corrode connections. Even at 30% rh humidity is, no matter high or low.

Co2 sealed, best grows lve had at this rh, at 65rh l grow pm. My veg is not doing well at 75 degrees and 55-65rh. Pm is becoming issue. Flower tent no sign of pm.

If you want piece of mind I wouldn't be ordering a knockoff from overseas. Diy is the way to go for saving money without sacrificing quality. DIY is almost a misleading term, the hard work is done. You aren't soldering connections or anything. If you can build a Lego set, you can build your own light. There is tons and tons and tons of info on here for strip lights or quantum boards.
