Well in that case, what you meant to say is that there's an unsolved crimes problem, not an incarceration problem, and with that I agree. If cops weren't occupied with arresting drug offenders they would be better equipped to solve legitimate crimes. It's sadly ironic.its true..

unsolved crimes and an under incarceration problem go hand in hand, and many "drug offenders" should be incarcerated .
i dont feel as strongly as he does, i dont know which specific mandatory minimum laws he's referring but overall i agree with what he said....
i dont necessarily agree with his mindset in that
" releasing felons under reduced sentences serves only to destabilize the communities in which they are released."
what prison should be....
"ensure prisons aren’t anarchic jungles that endanger both inmates and corrections officers, to promote rehabilitation and reintegration for those who seek it, and to stop the over-criminalization of private conduct under federal law"

Most countries don't lock up nearly as many as we do and their streets are safer than ours. I'm not saying prisons cause streets to be less safe but I am saying that the drivel we hear about draconian laws like three strikes and mandatory sentences is just that.
On the other hand, some people have to be excluded from society. But completely agree that our current system is broken and needs to be revamped with better choices made for who earns incarceration and what to do with them when they are sentenced. Maybe cages are the wrong way to incarcerate. Are there better alternatives in use elsewhere?

our prison system def makes streets more dangerous takes kids man 15 16 17 and puts them in with 30 40 year olds doing life for horrible crime all over little shit like pot possession
