Im currently staying in pune, india right now and have access to charas aka finger hash, and bush grown buds. I love the finger hash and its by far superior to the weed, but I can get a lot of bush weed for very little money. Soo I decided to go out and buy a silk screen from a screen printer. Luckily he already had one mounted. He said it was 100 micron but there was no documentation to support this.
Regardless, when I sifted about 50 grams of the weed id say I probably got 5-7gs of kief. And like 15-20g of just seeds. The kief appears good to me, it has a nice deep gold hue to the trichromes. But when I try pressing it, wont stick. It doesnt feel very oily at all. Not like the charas which can get super sticky. Worse, when I burn a sample, the smell is nothing like hash and tastes heavily of chlorophyll. When I smoke it, it does get me high, but I dont think its signifantly stronger than if I had just finely powdered the weed.
Now I know if u get out what u put into hash- start with good raw materials and the end product will be good, but even if I use poor quality weed, I should still see some noticable difference after making it into hash. So what gives?
My theory is that the drying/ curing process here is not the best. From experience in the charas and ganja producing regions I know most of the time, sellers are vending the previous years harvest. Drying usually consists of hanging up trimmed stalks of buds in the rafters of their huts.
Would I be better off just using this cheap source of weed to make iso or bho oil? Worst case ill just make a bunch of cannabutter, but ive always wanted to make my own dry sift...back home I never have access to such quantities of weed at such ridiculously cheap prices.
Thanks for the help!
