No you cannot use just water. You can use tobacco tea if you want something more natural Or perhaps predator mites

I FNG hate spider mites. To get rid of them you need to treat them like the terminator in T2. You can think you have them under control and all the sudden they are back again. Seriously you need to kill kill kill and keep killing with no mercy to get them under control. You must destroy every single mite and every single egg with extreme prejudice. Did I mention I hate mites? :)
sure tobaco does work , but it cant be more natural or atleast iv never heard of morning mist that came from a tobaco crop , tobaco will eventually end up into ur lungs and it want smell like tobaco smoke , i do smoke but not all the ppl do , can u explain why u cannot use only water ?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VbG9tVmNDw apply that into scale ( u dont have to soak all ur grow room /tent but do it daily , thats the most natural thing , the only drawback is that u try to CONTROL them and not eliminate them , the good about this method is that its the only natural way WHEN U ALREADY IN FLOWER , once u harvest , nuke the grow space entirelly with strong pestisides that have a good active life ( 3 months is the typical )

a) I've tried it and it doesnt work
b) you cant get enough pressure out of a spray bottle to wash all the eggs out
c) you WILL miss an area and the mites will simply come back.

Spay with water, it will look better for a couple days then in a week or 2 you plant will be overrun again. Mites are HARD to get rid of if you have a decent sized plant. You need something that will kill them on contact to be effective, because its a lot easier to thoroughly wet a leaf than it is to be sure each square mm of it has been hit by high pressure.

I've had some success with hot pepper solution too, but tobacco seemed to work better. I've heard of success with predator mites, but the one time I tried them I think they died in the mail or something (it was winter) so I haven't had them work for me the 1 time I tried them.

I hate to jack your thread, but while we're on the topic. I have a few WW plants outdoors. They are weak plants and had a rough season, yet I don't want to give up on them. They are three weeks into flowering and I have noticed that there are spider webs all around the bud area. They are inside, close to the nodes and what not. They are in fact tiny spiders in there, not mites. Are these bad because they are spinning around my buds? If so, how should I get rid of them. Thanks.

LOL, Again, I fell victim to some of the bullshit, here at RIU. Strange, huh? Anyway, awhile back, I had been warned(on more than one occasion) that it was terrible to touch your plants with nicotine on your fingers, from chewing or smoking, and dangerous to smoke around them, in general, because of the nicotine. I was warned that the nicotine caused the "Tobacco Mosiac Virus" which I just looked up. I'm glad I did, because what I had been told all along, was totally wrong. Yes, the virus can infect cannabis, but, isn't caused by nicotine. It's caused by a freakin virus, obviously! Doh! *smacks self in forehead*lol

Anyway, just in case there are others out there who have heard/fell for, this myth, here's the proof.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tobacco_mosaic_virus

(I have one other thread to post this in, as well)
