Well Water, is it safe?

Hello everyone, I wanted to see if anyone had some advice with well water. The water I want to use is indeed well water and the ppm is at 250. I have been told that to use a R/O filter for well water. I just wanted to know if it's alright to use my small boy since its only a sediment and de-chlorinator. I do have the upgraded activated carbon filter to remove all the iron from the water but the thing I am worried about is the amount of calcium and mag in the water. I don't know if 250 ppm is too much to give as just plain water. Any and all advice is welcome, thanks:-P

i knew a guy who was using well water with r/o he was from the Bayou area he had no other alternative
he managed to grow without any issues, if you are worried about the cal mag levels you can buy nutrients designed for Hardwater that will have a reduced
amount of cal supplied .. to be sure about exact nutrients ppm ratios look at some charts i am sure they are easy enough to find

peace :)

I've been doing fine with well water without running any RO. Mine comes in around 180 ppm, ph 7 and both those value stay within range. The only thing I do though is pay a bit more attention to my feed in terms of ppm/EC.

Thanks for the tips, I'm using Canna terra I don't think there's any cal mag in it. On the good side I don't have to get a cal mag supplement. I still feel a little cautious about constantly giving water with ppms that high, i'll hope for no cal mag lockouts.

I also run a carbon prefilter and my w/w runs 350. If you can get it under 200 you should be golden. Try getting a premix tank and filling it 3-5 days before your next water chg. drop a couple of airstones in it. This will cause a lot of those dissolved solids to clump together and drop to the bottom. Doing this drops my tds 50-100. Just don't siphon off the bottom.I run 50-50 w/w to r/o. and still bubble for a couple of days.
If you do decide to go r/o get a booster pump so you can get the volume you need. Running straight r/o means you will have to buy cal/mag tho which is silly considering you just paid to throw it away. check out AL.B Fuct he has great advice on water maintenance. GL

Good luck

Thanks for all the tips everyone. Hopefully my well water does just as good as yours kindbud, my ph is a little higher though but no worries. I am glad I will not have to use a cal mag supplement now, the previous water I used was around 130 ppms but I still would add a little cal mag into it. Later this week will be the first time I using this water, I always would go to the grocery store and get my water there but I am sick of carrying jugs all around, a lot of lifting! I was thinking about buying the R/O attachment for my small boy but the water pressure is too low at my place, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed hoping this water is good and doesn't cause any problems.:?
