Hey all,

ive currently got a few seedlings in a dome under a 25w fluro strip that i want to put under my 250w HPS light on 18/6 (using a 250w HPS for veg and flower).

So when should i first introduce them to the HPS light? and for how long? and how close should i first put them to the light?

thanx in advance for any replies, peace:leaf:

Id say u can put a hps on them as soon as they pop u just have to keep it about 1 1/2 to 2 feet away from your seedlings. I started my plants with a 400 watt hps

I put mine under a 250 Watt Hps when i transfered from solo cups to bigger pots. Some people say to keep them under CFL's all the way through veg., some people like to use them right from the get go. Its all preference. There is a few good threads on here comparing CFL and HPS during veg.

You should use those lower wattage (or bigger ones if you want and can get and afford them)flouro light as well still. you can keep those an inch or 2 above the seedlings in a way that doesnt block any of the hps light so you can stop them from stretching so badly towards the hps on you while still benefiting from the hps greatly in growth rate.

1- if they have broken the soil already get rid of dome

2- the first 2 weeks of just water i keep on heating pad under flouresent tubes

3- i normally transplant week 3 to 5 based on how plant is doing (how much viogor or lack of)

4- at transplant i put under big girl lights and no more heating pad

5- hps is not best for veg (but can work for you if its all you have) i use a 250w hps, a 250w cmh, and a uvb 20, i sometimes use cfls between flour tube stage and big girl light stage

good luck
