I was thinking about buying a gecko and letting it live in the garden. would it eat the plant?
Or is there any animal that would help my garden? thanks.

get a fish tank and use some of the water from it when feeding. And get a big dog, they will hang out with you while you garden and protect while your gone...cats suck

Depends on if the gecko will eat pot predators. Most common being spider mites then thrips and aphids. Ladybugs do the aphids in. I know - ants farm them. Who in hell wants ants anywhere? Diotomaceous earth will kill or discourage those that arrive by crawling or walking. Beer traps nail the slugs.

What about a praying mantis? Not technically an animal (although neither is a lizard) but would be pretty cool nonetheless.

im looking for something that isn't going to attack me when I'm looking at my garden..
So i need a animal that:
-Won't attack me
-Helps the garden
-Can survive in 80 degree temps

Praying Mantis and ladybugs (though, I'm not sure the Mantis won't eventually eat the ladybugs:shock:).
The ladybugs, I think I saw online at either Home Depot, or Lowe's, for bags of 500 or 1000 for pretty cheap.
And, I don't see how frogs wouldn't help keep bugs down, but same with eating the ladybugs, and I don't think your soil would stay wet enough to keep them from going elsewhere.
