What are you planning for 2013 ?

I am just wondering what everyone's plan for 2013 is going to be? As for me ... I am planning on construction of a new veg and flower station for my grow. With your help over the past year and a half, it is now time to start doing things in more of a positive manner, along with making it easier for me to work in my garden. As I told (or asked my better-half) :-), I want to continue my Journey, not only for myself, but the MMJ Community, and do things with the proper equipment. The first thing that I have accomplished thus far, was to receive my first order of seeds on Christmas Eve (from Attitude). I want to thank all of you for your help and guidance thus far, and hope that you will continue to aid me, as well as all others that come to this forum, in their respective Journey of Life. God Bless ... and may all of you and yours have a very safe, and blessed New Year and a super 2013 !! :peace:

Moving into a new place... need to build 2 chambers for my basement grow... challenging with a 5'5'' ceiling. The current girls have a week or so left to go ;)

What am I not planning for 2013

Top of the list though, supplement the grow with LED to churn out some more gram/W's without raising the electric bill too much, and clean up my outdoor plot since I won't be using it again.
* anybody need an 800 gallon water reservoir? Lol. Your's free if you can figure out how to haul it up a canyon;)

Hey Buddy ... Seems that we are just about in the same situation (although I will have just a tad more head room, but at an angle from being on the top floor of my apartment complex). Congrats on your current grow, and hoping that all of your girls will be dank as hell :-)

My grow area is in the basement also. I have slightly more room, just over 6'. To overcome this I set up racks with fence material and when I transplant to final pots I basically set the plant sideways and over the rack. In about 3 weeks the racks fill up with veg as well as the area in the middle.

Here's what it looks like:
https://www.rollitup.org/grow-room-design-setup/427087-my-new-room.html

One thing that I believe will be essential for you is air cooled lighting. Without that you won't have much height to work with. I did not have air cooled when I started. You can grow your plants to within a few inches of the light with air cooling. In fact, with my most recent crop I tried it without the racks and used tomato cages. Results look good.

One thing I must say Tet, is you have always inspired me !! :-) When I first saw your set up, I was taken aback, as I thought that was so creative using the tables around the plants. Since crop one, I have always used tomato cages in my grows, tying them down along the way. My yields have been pretty fair to me, obtaining appx 2 to 2.5 oz per plant doing this method. However .... Thanks to Dice Clay :-) for pointing me in the direction of main-lining ( Thread is in Subcool's Organic Grow here on RIU {NugBucket's Main-Lining Thread} ), I now anticipate even higher yields using this type of LST; topping; fiming: and supercroping ! I currently have an 8 - Head Manifold in my veg chamber that I will flipping on 1/1/13. Time will tell !! :-)

Most def though is the use of air cooled lighting, especially in my small room where the temps can be nasty for my plants. When i do upgrade my lights in the upcoming weeks, most def they will be air-cooled. Once I lay out my plan for both Chambers, I plan on placing them on here for tweeking from all of you, in hopes that I can get it just about perfect. All of you have been so helpful, and I cannot thank you enough for your help and patience with me, sometimes asking some pretty dumb questions along the way. but that is how we learn, and as stated, I cannot thank you all enough.

Best of Luck Tet in 2013, and keep growing some Dank MMJ :-)

Peace ... Bob

Nice grow room Tet, looks like a really good setup. Scrog is definitely the way to go with low plant limits. It's not hard to yield 1lb. + per plant under a 3.5' X 3.5' scrog screen!

So (being a newbie here Matt), are you saying that each table that Tet has in the pic featured .... 1 pound of MMJ is projected using this technique? I would guess also that it would depend on the strain of plant as well, as some are heavy yielders ... while some are not. But that would def be interesting if each table gave that amount, and I would be very interested in researching that option more if that is the case. Tet .... if possible, can you tell us what your yield on average was using this Scrog method?

Should also talk about how much veg time is needed for such a yield..... i have never seen a plant veg for 2-3 months and get more than 2-3 ounces... but I could just really suck... People also fail to mention that getting a lb. per plant requires thousands of watts not just a 1000 watt light. Not making accusations.. I am sure matt yielded what he said, but I would prefer If people gave the whole story.. instead of making it seam like getting more than 3 ounces per indoor plant is normal and easy to attain....

I have pulled 1.5 pounds off a 600w light in a 4'x4' tent using scrog. That was 6 sour d plants. There were also some cfls in the tent.

I know someone that has pulled 2 elbows off one plant under a 1k bulb.

My last grow I was averaging 6 zips per plant using 5 gallon containers. One heavy yeilding plant gave 11 zips, and it had the same space as the other plants.

Again why no talk of veg time? And I think the estimates were for 1 plant... outside I know that the plants can yield ridiculous amounts, but I just have a hard time believing that 16 ounces of cured and trimmed bud is coming off of 1 plant... again unless it was vegging for like 5 or 6 months. Shit 11 ounces of cured and trimmed bud seams damn near impossible. I would just like to know what makes a person under a 1000watt hps yield 4 times or more on 1 single plant than that of the next guy who knows what he is doing. Again not saying it can't be done, but everyone always skirts around this...

Yeah, you have to veg longer if you want bigger plants. I don't keep close track of veg time. But I don't think I have ever veged for longer than 3 months, unless it is a clone mother.

Flower time is much more important to me, and that plays a part in my calculation as to whether I think a plant has a good yield. Some plants can be done in 6 weeks. Others take 12 or more.

Some plants are small, and just don't yield much. Deep chunk is like that. I need to harvest a few of those plants, and I will be lucky if I get 2 zips off each plant. But they don't take up much space in the garden.

It is more about how much you are yielding per square foot than per plant. Lots of seeds will list it as grams / square meter. I think my Bulldog seeds Sour D says 600g / sq meter.

But check out a yield calculator. I'm not doing better than expected.

If memory serves me right Dice, I believe you and I are trying Nug's Main-Lining technique. I have still in veg a vortex with 8-heads and it has been in my veg chamber (from clone) since November 15th. ( I wish I had my camera back from my daughter so I could take a few shots of it). I can see ( or better envision )that if all goes well in the Flowering Chamber, I should yield close to 1 pound of cured herb doing it Nug's way. I already know that I will yield a lot more than I have ever before, for I have never done anything like this before. Every crop thus far has had just one main cola, and a few smaller colas and popcorn buds.

Yeah I am trying the Main-Lining technique. I guess I dont know what I am doing wrong that I cant get a single plant yield over 2 ounces or so (largest was close to 4oz). So a 6 plant harvest is usually from 8-12oz... under 1 1000w hps in soil. The plants I see yielding huge amounts are either 2 feet taller than mine (extra veg) or are heavily trained like in a scrog grow (also needing more veg.)I also trim quite heavily and have a lot of smokable bud trim. Maybe some more info as to how someone can boost a plants yield by 4x........ I really dont see what I can change other than going to hydro..and again... having grown outdoor plants that yielded over 3.5lbs.... I cant imagine having more than 1 plant under a 1000w light that could yield such a bounty...... maybe i just have penis envy who knows... but no one has seriously answered this question... so i tend take these yield numbers with a grain of salt sorry

No need to be sorry Bro. All I can tell you is the following on this one vortex plant that I am main-lining via Nug's technique. From Clone, I started it on November 15th, and will prolly flip to 12/12 on 1/15/13. It is an 8 Head manifold, and will have been in veg for 61 days on the 15th. I strongly believe that I can obtain close to 2oz per (Donkey Stick, as Nug's refers to them as), after the 70 days of Flowering. ( I usually go 1 to 2 weeks over the recommended or average time, depending on the level of cloudiness, usually 60% ). So that would yield appx 1 pound of bud per plant. I have since beginning growing, kept detailed records of my grows. I have always vegged my plants (all from clones thus far), between 55 to 75 days, and have yielded on average 2-3 ounces per plant. But as stated before, that was not using any technique such as LST, Super Cropping Etc .... Pretty much just let them grow straight up. I am really looking forward to this one vortex for a bigger yield, and if obtained close to my goal .... I will most def be using it here on end.

Hello neighbors, which if you dont mind me asking strain wise (ibl if possible) does the best for us in summer with our whacky summers? I remember my uncle and dad had some duckfoot indica from montreal area many moons ago that loved our short summer fall grow seasons. ducksfoot indica.jpghave any experianced outdoors farmers seen a strain that produces a maui like yield but will finish in our short season? Please and thankyou.

OMG VT !! First of all welcome .... I have to laugh, for back in the day (1970's), a friend and I grew some Duckfoot here in Maine that made it's way down here via Montreal and Quebec .... LOL .... Oh those were the daze and haze !! :-) I remember ;like it was yesterday when Rick and I took at joy ride up to St. George, PQ to bring some down here. When we got to the Border Station above Jackman, Rick was very impressed that we did not get caught, for the custom agent was a distant cuz of mine. As far as your question, I am hoping that a more experienced Mainah will be able to answer your question for you. In the meanwhile, welcome, and hope that you stay for awhile amongst us :-)

you know this time aroud I was really looking at at least 3 oz per plant ... but I think the cold in my old flowering room (39-54 off light temps) may have stunted a lot of the swell in the buds... oh well.. you saw the pic in my last thread.. I just dont know what I can do other than adding 600watts to bump up my yield that significantly... I will be interested to see how my main-lined plants produce... we will keep each other updated ;)
