If you do a google search on this topic, you will come up with pages of info regarding infrared and FLIR. Every forum Ive been to where this issue comes up usually just ends up with people debating whether this or that works, or even if cops use infrared rather than FLIR. good luck with this one. I would recommend insulating the crap out of your grow area, and make sure no exterior walls show any sign of heat, including the roof. Supposedly cops can only read surface temps, so whatever they can see from the sky is what they can take readings on. Dont have your light toughing any walls or creating heat anywhere near an exterior wall. Also if you have any exhaust outlets, they will be able to see the heat billowing out of those, which look a lot different than a dryer vent

I just saw someone else with the same question about infrared.

ANd I gotta say, this just doesn't make sense to me. I mean, if plants are used to growing outdoors, and there isn't just infrared light outside, then why would you try to grow plants with that light?

Plants need full spectrum light, of course, not when you want them to bloom, but when you're growing, you need to have all the colors of light in order to grow healthy plants.

I know the infrared light sounds like a cool idea, and there are certainly a lot of sites which make it sound like the only possible option.

But it just doesn't make sense. I haven't used it and I don't plan to use it.

WTF are you talking about? Infrared is non-visible thermal energy. You must have it confused with something else...
