What causes this?

This plant is in the middle of week 9 and will be chopped any day now. Does anyone know what causes this new growth on the top of the colas?

Looks like heat induced foxtailing.

Also I know you want to chop that very badly but it still has at least a week or 2 to go.

I had a certain strain do it on me. Different grows with the same plants.

Lol, no cat tail after taste...
