What did I breed?

I've been brewing tea for the last couple months for my aeroponic fence rail system and something I added to the tea was bad or something grew that wasn't supposed to. Because when inoculated my reservoirs and cloners everything got covered with a weird brown slime that smells extremely strong like CLEAN FRESH soil. At first I just assumed these new bennies smelled different than my last ones because I'd always heard that root rot smelled bad, like fecies or just gross. This smelled totally fine, even good. But within a few days all my roots in every cloner and system were covered in browth growth and the roots were turning brown and rotting as well. This all started when I started using a generic brand EWC instead of what I was using before was a bottle of this stuff called diatomic humus, oregonism XL, and hydroguard, which seemed to work great. The next batch was all the same but with EWC in a coffee filter as well. I scrubbed all the roots and systems with physan 20 and transplanted all aero plants into pots of rock/rockwool cubes. Hopefully everything will survive, I think it will, but has anyone every heard of this for next time I try to use this aeroponic system? Also does anyone have good info on running Physan 20 continuously, and how much? Thanks everyone!

Are you sure your roots were rotting? I just got a scare few days ago when I peeked at my roots and saw them being redish-brown color. On closer examination it turned out being just soil particles from EWC dyed by the nute mix. If you suspect root slime after EWC, always take a sprinkle bottle with pure water and try washing the roots. If coloration washes away easily, you're probably OK. If it's a thick sticky layer that does not come off, then you're in trouble.
